SOURCE: not enough suction for Panasonic MC-V5716 upright

Probably not the motor protector, its function is shut off the motor if it overheats. Most likely you have a clog or partial clog in the inlet down by the brush roll, or it is in the hose. But if the motor is running, and suction is low, with no clogs, then maybe the motor is running at a slower speed and will have to be replaced.

SOURCE: Dyson DC07 works and cleans fine, but motor makes loud screaching sound.

If the screeching noise is happening at all times, it is most likely a motor failure; which unfortunately can only be resolved by complete replacement of the motor.
If it's a loud ratchety-screeching type sound, and is only occurring when the brush is set to carpet, it is most likely due to an obstruction of the brushroll or a problem with the clutch. Ensure that the brushroll can spin free, look for anything physically blocking it. Check the bearing ends on the brushroll, they can melt and cause the brushroll to not spin effectively. If neither of those two things resolves the problem, the clutch most likely needs replacement.

SOURCE: Motor runs fine and hose not clogged will not pickup dirt

This may sound silly, but have you checked the belt? A lot of Eureka vacuums use the vac motor to run the brush, and if the brush is not running the vacuum won't pick up. Another thing to check is the condition of the fan blades.. if they get worn they will push air out of the exhaust ports, but not push enough air to pull the dirt into the vacuum bag. Another thing to check is the length of the bristles on the brush... you can change a lot of the bristle strips and save the cost of a whole brush roll.. All of these fixes are under $10.00 (Belt: $1-2, Brush Strip $3-6, Fan $5-10) at most places.

My dc41 stopped all suction. the beater bar spins fine, but no air is moving. as in, is there a separate motor that just croaked?

If your motor is making it's normal sound, it most likely is working. Check for clogs by removing all removable pipe bends and examining visualy, check the hose by running a long broomstick through it. Clean, wash and dry all filters. Check for suction at the port closest to the motor.

Dirt isn't coming up into the canister even though the rug looks cleaner. How can I fix?

Sounds like a clogged hose. Try running a coathanger or other stiff wire into the hose. UNPLUG the vacuum first! A small hook on the end of the wire helps pull clogs and prevent hose punctures.

Loud noise/Sounds clogged

You could have a clogged air filter and vacuum is not getting air to motor. You could have hair and string buildup on ends of roller brush. You can put a vaccum hose over a broom handle to clean it out. Also, check the little elbow of the hose at the bottom f vacuum where it bends.

Central Vaccum - Kenmore Model No 34330

Is there suction where the pipe hooks to the cannister? If so, then are all of the outlets without suction? Maybe the hose is plugged. If the hose is ok, and there is suction at the cannister, then **** up a small **** of paper, one for each room outlet, have a number on each piece of paper, Which ever one doesn't ,ake it thru to the cannasiter is the outlet that is plugged. You can use a plumbers snake to clean out a clogged outlet or even a clogged hose.

If the motors are running and sound ok, then there has to be suction at the outlet on the cannister. If the filter bag is old, it may be best to replace it with a new one.

Low suction

Is the suction low at the tank after you disconnect the hose? If it is strong there, then the hose may be clogged. You can unhook the hose from the wands to see if you have suction or not. If you do, then look further down all the way to the brush roll. The other possible is if no clogs, check the filters, on the E series, there is a filter on the back, there is some also had one in the top and you would have to take it apart to get to it. One other is that the motor is not running at top speed and may have to be replaced. It can sound ok, but will have reduced suction. If you suspect the motor, check your owner manual, some of these newer ones had a long warr. period on the motor.

Windsor Sensor Vacuum

Sounds like you have a clog, either in the hose, or the inlet down at the bottom. When there is a clog, the red light will come on and may also shut down to protect the motor.
