The recorder should be connected to the mixer but any mismatch of the impedance or recorder input sensitivity/mixer output level can cause anything from a small lack of quality to serious overload resulting in great distortion.
A mixer could realistically have a peak output of a couple of volts and the power amplifier could need that amount to produce full volume but your recorder could need only a few millivolts if it can record from a moving coil microphone or magnetic phono cartridge.
It could be desirable to use a an additional preamp or even a simple attenuator to reduce the output of the mixer to a level suitable for the recorder input.
If the mixer has an output for monitoring it would be ideal for connecting a recorder but I strongly suggest you are guided by the instruction manuals of both units.
U connect the recorder to the audio outputs of mixer. If you only have one set of outputs, get a y adapter and have one set of outputs go to the recorder and other set to the amp.

Connect the analogue inouts of the recorder to the monitor or tape outputs on the mixer.
