Apparently, you have pics on the camera's internal memory. Your card won't work until those pics are gone. Here's how...with no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the on-screen instructions to erase the internal memory. Then, insert your card and it should work.
You still need to get rid of the pics on the internal memory. With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the on screen instructions to erase the internal memory. Then, insert your card and it should work properly.
The memory card you are trying to use in the camera is not supported. This camera is an older technology that can not recognize the large 8 GB memory capacity of the card. In fact, the largest approved card your camera will recognize is 1 GB.

#1 Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com #2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives. #3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive. #4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'. #5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place. #6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.
Follow these steps:
1. If you have a SD card reader, insert the SD card and look for it in Windows Explorer. In this case, mine was labeled F:
2. Right Click on the drive for the Card Reader (IMPORTANT) and choose FORMAT.
3. Format card with default settings.
4. Turn Camera on and go to MENU> FORMAT CARD
5. Before answering the next question, insert SD card into camera. You will hear it beep twice.
6. Choose FORMAT and the card should be formatted for use on the camera.
Cheers!
