My Kitchen Aid Aritsan was a gift bought in the US. We live in Zambia/Africa (using 240v electricity). One day there was a loud pop at the plug and a slight smokey smell. Its never worked since

We suspect it was caused by the difference in voltages. Can I get it fixed? Cant bear the thought of throwing it away as new as it looks

I will assume that you were not using a step-down transformer (240 to 120 volts).

So what may have happened?

1. The phase board burned out.
2. The stator burned out.
3. The armature burned out.
4. The line cord and/or plug failed.

It could be one, all, or any combination of these things.

A solution is to simply convert the mixer to 240 volts. This can be done by replacing all four items above with the 240 volt versions.

If I were doing this here in the U.S., Ebay would be my source for the parts.

You can find a Service Manual which covers your model (even though it may net say so) and shows how it comes apart at:

Why is my kitchen aid mixers so Loud?

Could be,among other things:

Very worn brushes (although, in this case, the mixer usually stops entirely).
Worn gear(s).
Grease congealed and not lubricating correctly.

In any case, see the Service Manual at:

Mixer won't start after mixing dough.

There is a good chance you burned up the electrical Connectors to the motor or you have have blown the FUSE that is located inside the housing. The Motor has a Self Shut Off when it overheats but if you have over taxed the motor more than once, then there is a good change you need to repair/replace it with something that can handle harder work. My sister got a Mix Master the same time I got my Kitchen Aid, My Kitchen Aid is running strong since 2003 and her Mix Master died in 2005 and I bought her a Kitchen Aid. Sorry but I am not fond of the Sunbeam Mixer's.... Quality has gone down hill over the years to keep their prices low.

Kitchen aid stand mixer bought in US, moving to Europe, 220v 50hz

I can not respond to the warranty issues. My kitchen aid mixer is past warranty as well. I live in a country that uses 220V and my kitchen aid mixer is 110V. I have been using my kitchen aid mixer for almost 4 years with no problems at all.

The converter boxes are supposed to blow the fuse on the converter before it reaches your appliance and cause any problems.

If you purchase a 220V kitchen aid (although it would cost more money) it would probably have more power because of the higher voltage.

Hope this helps!

Kitchen aid 110v 450watt, I want to convert to 220v

Hi guys,

The only available Kitchen Aid stand mixers on the European markets are the Kitchen Aid Classic and the Kitchen Aid Artisan.

The best way is to contact a Kitchen Aid service center / repair facility in your area.
Here is the European website of Kitchen Aid: http://www.kitchenaid.eu/eu_EU/ka/ka_europe.htm

If you bought a different Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer (like the Professional series) you probably won't find the required parts to convert it to a European model. The only way would be to use a voltage converter.

I hope this helps.
