Paperjams recently our printer  keeps  on giving  us  a error message that there is  a paperjam in the bottom tray (tray2). there is no paper in the tray, or in the path, and we followed all the steps for clearing paperjams. We can only print from tray 1, and have to leave tray2 open. Any suggestions wouold be appreciated a lot!!

Please check for paperjams within your printer tray. Remove any pieces of stuck paper, then restart your printer and your error should go away. Thank you.

Clean the feed rollers.

Go to menu, in tray tray behaving tray1 select as unless paper load,in tray2 page size as any size.. while giving print command select printer properties, goto paper/quality select paper source automatic or tray2 & shoot print command & check...
# if you are not selected tray 1 as unless paper load, it will ask paper to load after command reached to it.
# if you are not selected tray2 as any paper size, defined paper size only it will allow to print..any paper size it will print with out questing you..

Try cleaning the roller on the front part of tray. It may be dusty. When it is dusty paper can slip and cause paperjams.

I guess that your printer need to replace its tray 4 pickup rolls, how many paper did your printer print....Did you replace the maintenance kit before???

One problem i found with those printers is that over time the casting around the paper tray is wearing off and printers starts to show paperjams when there is no paperjam.
One way to fix is try and positions the paper tray better or perhaps raising it a bit with piece of wood or paper.
Cast unfortenately is too expensive to replace so if this doesnt work and you are sure there is no paperjam and nothing obstructing the sensor then replace the printer.

For tray linking to work, both Paper Size AND Paper type must be configured the same for both trays. You probably have the paper sizes the same but types could be different. The is no setting to make tray linking work.. it will do it automatically if the above settings are correct.

Never remove paperjams from the back. this will damage the feed roller. get sandpaper (1 layer) insert it in tray start print and whatever you do DO NOT let go of the sandpaper until the printer is quiet. It should work.
