My jvc smart tv wont recognise my new western digital hard drive

Digital tvs are good at this. I had to buy a digital converter box to pick up over the air channels with a usb port on it, to play mine, you can pick up one on amazon for about 30 bucks. Make sure it has usb streaming port before you buy it!

Why won't it recognise external hard drive?

Your external hard drive is probably formatted in Microsoft's NTFS format. Older TVs do not recognize this file system.

Try to connect to the TV a Hard Drive formatted in the FAT32 file system. It is possible to convert NTFS drives to FAT32, using a computer.

Note: Even if the TV will recognize the Hard Drive, it may or may not play the files (videos, movies, music) stored on the drive. Check the TV's manual for the supported files.

Hi, my ps3 won't recognise my 1tb wd external hard

The problem with the new 1Tb WD Passport that I just purchased is that it is a USB 3.0 format and apparently PS3 doesn't recognize that speed.

Haven't found a workaround for it yet, but all these people advising you to reormat anew Passport drive are wasting your time.

Hi. I have a Seagate FC remote hard drive. The power light has started flashing and the drive is no longer recognised or readable by my computer. Do you have any suggestions?

If you don't hear any other weird sounds coming from the drive, you need to replace the logic board on the hard drive. Find an identical hard drive part on eBay and replace the logic board on the hard drive and everything will be working 100%.
Good luck!

My Belkin Home Base F5L049 isn't recognising my external hard drives that have their own power supply. Seems to be working fine with USB powered hard drives. How do I get it to recognise my powered...

Hi,

I am having similar problems with my HomeBase. I have 3 x 1Tb Seagate external USB2.0 NTFS drives (FreeAgent) connected. The aim is to have my digital TV, LG set-top box, Apple TV, PC and Laptop all access the files and capacity offered by the NAS option.

They work fine in 'single user network USB' mode, but are very flaky / non-existant in 'NAS, multi-user' mode. There are times when the HomeBase is restarted and recognises one or more of the drives in NAS mode, but mostly they are not recognised. On the back of the unit, you can see the LED next to the USB port leading to the drives initially stay lit, but then flashes for 10-15 seconds and then goes out.

As I want the hard disks available to multiple devices I need to use the NAS setting.
Did you try to set the drives into 'Network USB mode' rather than NAS mode. Does that help?

Did anyone have a solution to the problem? Unfortunately Belkin technical support have not been very useful yet...

Thanks

Mark
