Usually, the first thing to try when a machine skips stitches is install a brand new needle. Also, be sure you are using the right type of needle for the fabric and thread you are using, ie ball point needle for knits, sharp needle for wovens, leather needle for thick fabrics/denim/leather... Needles do wear out with use, so changing needles frequently could be helpful. (Needles are the least expensive solution to most sewing problems!)
You can also try removing the upper thread. ALWAYS raise the presser foot and rethread from the beginning. Verify the thread path is correct.
Be sure to use a brand new needle. If the needle is bent or damaged, it will frequently skip stitches. Also, if you are using the incorrect needle for the fabric & thread you are using, it will skip stitches, ie a ball point needle on woven fabric. All About Needles
5. The needle thread & the bobbin thread are not set under the presser foot when starting to sew
6. the threads were not drawn to the rear after sewing
7. The thread is either to heavy or to fine for the needle
8. Try a different spool or cone of thread
Bobbin thread breaks
1. There is a right way & wrong way to insert the bobbin in the case --when you insert the bobbin in if it doesn't stitch correctly turn the bobbin over see if that helps or bobbin case is not inserted correctly
try these suggestions and see if they help Skipped stitches
1. The needle is not inserted correctly
Remove needle & reinsert needle( flat side towards the back of machine)
2. The needle is damaged
replace with new needle
3. The wrong size needle is being used
Choose a needle to suit the thread & fabric
4. The foot not attached correctly
Check & attach correctly
Might be that you need to lower the tensions quite a bit, you'll have to juggle with top and bottom tensions though, and experiment for just this operation with the Sensormatic.
Sorry to say I had the same prob and finally gave up on using 2 needles and 4 threads. Other than that I love the machine but will be replacing it soon due to inability to find replacement parts as it is sooo old. :(
My Pfaff 3.0 is doing the same thing!
