Turn off water Remove set screw on side of handle. once the handle is removed try to realign. if that does not work remove the cartridge nut and reposition the cartridge as to set properly. the cartridge normally has a tab on it set in the groove of the valve body.

SOURCE: Moen Bath Tub Faucet

Hi varn4620,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is: You had to replace the faucet in the tub due to a broken plastic piece in valve stem. Bought a Moen ripped the wall out and put new faucet in. Went good untill we turned the water on and the shower rained on us. Tightened everything you could find to tighten .Every time the water is turned on the shower rains. Can this be fixed or is the faucet broken?

Is this new faudet a single handle? If so I"ve had this experience also. Most of the time it's because the guts were not lined up properly at the factory. You may have to play with it a bit.
Turn off the water and take the handle off and remove the sleave, remove and rotate the guts. Try 90' at a time. Turn water on to try it. Useually one of the other 3 positions will be right. The correct position is there, but it may take time to find it.

SOURCE: can you adjust hot to cold ratio on moen single

Pull off the handle and there are limiters located under it. They come set with not enough hot allowed, I have found. It is an anti scalding issue.

How do I fix hot water handle that is leaking on Moen Banbury ca87000 sink

The valve cartridge needs replaced. Those can be purchased at most home improvement stores, such as Home Depot. Or, it may be under warranty.

Moen 7100

the internal components of a single handle Moen require delicate alignment and accuracy. Since a full circle is 360 degrees, I would recommend replacing the entire faucet with a more conventional two handle style.

Moen banbury faucet repair

I had a look at the installation guide and exploded diagram, It seems that the whole assembly will be tightened when the mounting nut is put on.

I need replacement part for bath sink cartridge 4570

The Moen 1225 or 1200 cartridges are the same except the 1200 is brass in stead of plastic. They will fit most Moen single handle faucets. If it is a two-handle faucet, the 1224 cartridge will fit most two-handle models unless it is a fancy widespread faucet more than about 15 years old. I don't know the model numbers for those cartridges. All of these cartridges require a removal tool if you can't get them out with a pair of pliers.

My classmate

Moen Monticello 4-inch centerset bath faucets can be repair easily with only a screwdriver and adjustable wrench. Turn the water off to the both sides of the faucets under the sink. Open both the hot and cold-water valves to alleviate any remaining pressure. Remove the handles by grasping the base of the handle and turning it counterclockwise.( This works for both lever and cross handles). Loosen the Moen faucet cartridge bonnet nut with an adjustable wrench by turning it counterclockwise to the left. Pull the stem from the faucet by hand and replace. Reinstall the bonnet nuts and handles. Turn the water back on and test the faucet for leaks. The Moen Monticello faucet comes with a limited lifetime warranty. Try calling Moen to get your replacement parts free.
