How to turn the oven light off on my Kenmore Elite Electric stove model790.

We had bad weather 2 nights ago the power was off for several hours. The next day everything on the stove was functioning properly except the oven light. It will not go off, even if you use the surface control for the light bulb.

You should have either a shorted out door switch or a shorted out light switch on the control panel.
Removing either one and unplugging it should show you which one is the problem.
God bless your efforts.

My Kenmore Elite electric stove top will turn on fine, but it will randomly cut off. Then none of the burners will heat up, but lights are on like all is fine. If I turn off the power for 5 minutes it...

If it goes dead for a while during or after cooking then comes back on, the magnetron is probably overheating and causing the magnetron thermostat to open.

Then when it cools, it closes the circuit and allows power through again.

An overheating magnetron can be :
  • operating oven without cover(s) in place
  • wrong magnetron installed in oven
  • an old or otherwise failing magnetron
  • cracked magnetron magnet
  • improper power line voltage (US homes should be 110-125VAC)
  • foods low in moisture (popcorn & bacon, e.g. - add 1/2 cup of water in rear oven)
  • failed or inoperable cooling fan or hood vent exhaust fan
  • deteriorating foam weatherstripping seals in air ducts or on outside cover
  • blocked air vents (dust, animal nest debris, insufficient free air space behind & around oven, etc.)
  • clogged or greasy charcoal filter or grease filter
  • blocked duct in hood vent exhaust
I suspect a failure or the fan, clogged filter or bad magnetron.

I appreciate your thoughtful rating of my answer.

Hi, i own a kenmore elite speedcook oven model 363.63692301, ever since my wife used the convection speedcook oven and had the heat setting set to the maximum temp of 450 degrees which the oven should...

I have had issues with my Kenmore Elite conv oven too. I have had several service calls and found out that the TCU (thermal cooling unit) sensor was not working. This allows the oven to cool down so it doesnt overheat the sensors in the display. I actually had to have the oven replaced after 4 months of use. I am currently waiting for a technician to review the replacement oven for the same issue. I spent $7k on all new Elite appliances and will never purchase Kenmore appliances again. Good luck

Although I have changed the light bulbs, the lights that illuminate under the microwave onto the stove top will not work. This is a Kenmore over the stove Microwave Oven Model 721.80592402. Have their...

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid with a one-year guarantee.

At our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or stuck in "night light" mode. Sometimes this will similarly affect the fan operation or inside light, too.

I have a kenmore stove whose burners wont light. oven works fine. burners will spark but no gas comes out. recently I turned off the power to the stove by turning the fuse off. what do I need to do to get...

If the gets give no gas then sounds like a Thermocouple, this is a device that allows the gas to come on after a period of time ensuring that the pilot is lit and heated up this thermocouple, once it heats it then allows gas to enter and ignite the main burner..hope this helps ,please leave feedback.

Turned light on. Several minutes later the light

Your unit may employ a switching power supply and these have a tendency to cease operation without warning and servicing these may require training and a piece of specialized equipment.
With the unit unplugged, after an hour or two, it is safe to open the housing and check for an internal fuse which could have failed.
If typical, these will be in a tubular ceramic housing about 1 1/2" long and 1/4" in diameter and can be purchased at most hardware stores.

66993 pizza oven microwave oven combo pizza oven not heating error code f1 microwave part works

Hello, please use the chart to determine which stove you have. You will have to look at the model number. The first 3 numbers will be the series on the chart. In most cases an F1 error would require replacement of the electronic control. This part is commonly refered to as an EOC or ERC. However this type of repair is usually reserved for repair specialists.

KENMORE Range/Stove/Oven Fault Codes – 362 Series (General Electric)
F1 = Stuck Touch Pad Key - Replace Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE - 911 Series (General Electric/Roper)
F0-F1-FF = Failed transistor in Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE Range/Stove/Oven Fault Codes- 665 Series (Whirlpool)
F1-E0 EPROM Error - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E1 EPROM Error - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E2 U/L ERC Errors - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E3 Fuel Type Fail

Kill power 30 seconds-Cancel-Start/Enter-5 seconds-Should see “E” for electric-
“9” for gas-If code changes again-replace Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE - 790 Series Electronic Oven Control (Frigidaire)
F1 = Shorted Touch Pad = Electronic Range Control (EOC) Internal check sum error.
Runaway Temp = Replace Electronic Oven Control (EOC).

Kill power 30 seconds - if error returns - replace Electronic Oven Control (EOC).

Thanks

Covers over cooking/night lights are melting

I have a microwave above my stove also but it has not done what yours is doing. I would try a lower watt bulb since it would not give off as much heat. You may need to replace the lens or else just take it out and get rid of the problem altogether. You would have a brighter light anywas even if you kept the same bulb. Most of those bulbs are florescent and do not put out much heat anyway and seldom cause heat problems, esp. giving off enough heat to melt something.

Down lights/night light not working

I'll do my best w/out model#... remove 2 screws top of the air vent grill to remove grill.. remove 1 screw at top of touch pad.. you will see maybe 2 or 3 diff fuse area...thats how you get to the fuse for your question.. but I think the relay in your control for the light is bad. unforturnately you have to replace the whole board (in most over the range micro) good luck.. mike
