Hi

I assume you have removed the plastic cover from the new ink cartridge.

New Ink cartride should work immediatly if it doesn't I would say that the ink cartridge has dried out. Ink cartridges that stand for a long time even when completly closed has the tendency to dry.

Messing with the Ink is a constant battle, thats way I moved to simple only black laser printer . laser printer today are that expensive and if you print in black only or even most of the time consider moving to laser printer.

hope it helps .

I've replaced all ink cartridges but the printer is only printing color and no black please help

the black is plugged in the printhead. take it out, and to the sink. run hot water thru the head. rinse it thoroughly. even put the nozzles up to the sink nozzle and force water thru it. when it decided to unplug you will get a bunch of black ink for a second or two. then take the head and shake it out and if possible blow it out with compressed air. get it dry then take a pencil eraser to the contact points on the back of the printhead to clean them. reinstall your printer and let it cycle to charge the printhead. try to print. if not good results try one more clean and if still no black, go back to the sindk and try again. repeat this a couple of times, if it doesn't work, let it sit in really hot water for a while then try to flush it out again. make sure it is dry when you put it back into the printer. try to print again. do use good inks to do this. empty ones won't work.

Black ink cartridge is flashing but the ink cartridge is full. The ink was taken out and then put back in...this is super annoying!

Is it a HP ink cartridge (new) or is it a refill. I had the same problem but with a Tesco brand cart, sometimes it worked some times it didn't. Also had same problem with a refill with the refill I just took it back to the shop and swapped it till worked okay

My printer will no longer print in black s520

if it is a new black ink cartridge and the printer still wont print black start by:

A: Simply making sure the settings are ok. To do this, go to file>print. When the printer box shows up. click properties.

From there, you will be able to see color settings. (ex. black, grayscale, full color.) Try switching to black or "use black cartridge only.

B. If "a" does not work for you, the print head which hold the ink cartridge is clogged or no longer working. Through the cannon window on the printer, try running a print head cleaning or any maintenance program.

If there's still no black, the print head has seen better days and needs replacing. Most of the time it is more effective to get a new printer.

I keep running out of BK225 black ink. there is a black BK226 ink. How do I switch to it?

you need to replace your ink cartridge with the correct compatible one. if this is a dual cartridge adn has a single black and one black on the color then you need to replace the main black. check your user manual how to replace the cartridge. you didn't specify the make or model

My printer screen says

The ink is contained in a cartridge.

Note that "backup" printing mode mixes colours, to produce "black", because the "black" ink-cartridge has failed.

So, replace the BLACK ink-cartridge.

Canon PIXMA MP500 New Black ink cartridge produces no ink

If you don't use it very often the black could have dried in the printhead, and you will need a new one. Another possibility is that the purge unit is not cleaning and priming the printhead properly. I have seen several defective purge units. For 1 year it can be replaced under warranty, after that it is a $90.00 repair job in the shop.

If the ink sticks look in good condition you need to replace the ink loader as tryit suggests. I have seen many fail, especially when someone uses non-Xerox brand ink. Here is a video that will show you how to replace it. Also covers the 8500, 8550, and 8560 though the part numbers are different.

New black ink, but wont print any black ink

Epson Printers are terribly designed. There is a known issue with them related to clogged ink wells. Below the cartridge the ink dries in the well and makes the printer unusable. I have seen this many many times and will NEVER recommend an epson printer. Most of the time I will have people go out and buy a new printer only because of the fact that you will be paying 50-70/hr labor for someone to FIX/Clean your printer. If you want to try to clean it yourself go ahead. I have done it in the past with varying success because it is more trouble than its worth to remove the inkwells and clean them properly. Buy an HP printer. The difference is that the HP cartridge is what contacts the paper directly. There is no inkwell inbetween to get clogged. When you buy a new HP cartridge you will replace everything between the ink and the paper. Epson is just a poorly designed product. Hack
