First of all follow the steps to change the search or indexing settings
1. Go to file , click option and then click search on the left-hand side.
2. Now click Indexing option.
3. click on the advanced button option.
4. Now you need to change the index settings to Rebuilt

depending on many things such as your internet provider and what email client your using out look has many options. your best bet is to use google.com and in the search type. how do i setup outlook express 2003 for bt,. or for horizon, or for what ever email service or internet provider your using, normally the first results will be what your looking for hope this helps

Outlook 2007 search option greyed out

Microsoft office outlook has stopped working

Create a new profile for yourself in MS Outlook and configure your e-mail account in it. Hopefully this should resolve the problem.

Are you using any personal folders (.pst) in Outlook?

If the asnwer is yes; then were these personal folders created in Outlook 2003 or some earlier version of Outlook? In any case, if the older type personal folders are large in size, these can cause Outlook 2003 to stop responding or freezing.

Close MS Outlook; right click on the MS Outlook icon showing in the startup programs bar and choose properties; choose 'Show Profiles'; choose copy profile and then choose this new profile in the 'Always use this profile' option.

MS Outlook should now hopefully work fine.

Empty the Outbox in Outlook Express, move any messages you want to Send later to the Drafts folder.

Close Outlook Express.
Do a Search for .dbx files.
Search:

Start > Search > For Files or Folders > All files and folders,
In the field for: all or part of the file name
Key in:
.dbx
Below that, click on More advanced options
in the field: Type of File, select (All Files and Folders)
place a checkmark in:
Search system folders
Search hidden files and folders
Search subfolders
click Search

Locate the Outbox.dbx file and Sent Items.dbx file and delete it.
Restart Outlook Express, a new Outbox.dbx file will be created.
Send yourself a Test message to see if it leaves the Outbox.

You may need to enable Show Hidden Files and Folders to see the .dbx files.
Windows XP:

Open My Computer,
Tools > Folder Options > View tab,
under Hidden Files and Folders, verify Show Hidden Files and Folders is selected.
Remove the check mark for Hide Extensions for known file types.
Apply, OK to save and close.

Email stuck in outbox

Here's the fix if when you send an email attachment from another application it gets stuck in the Outlook Outbox...

Tooks us a long time to come up with it but great to have! It's fixed in Outlook 2007.

How to download emails from server by microsoft outlook

Login to your gmail account.
Goto Settings and click on Forwarding and POP/IMAP
Enable POP options.

For settings on different email client visit
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?ctx=%67mail&hl=en&answer=12103

FOR YAHOO U NEED PAY FOR POP/SMTP SUPPORT.

HOTMAIL CAN BE CONFIGURED BY DEFAULT.WHILE CHOOSING POP OPTIONS CHOOSE HOTMAIL.
