When an upstream device performs an active/standby switchover, its IP address remains unchanged, but its MAC address changes. The downstream switch(such as S2309TP-EI-AC) cannot detect the MAC address change in traffic, and cannot update ARP entries. Incoming traffic, therefore, cannot be forwarded. The aging time of ARP entries on the switch is 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, the switch learns ARP entries of the upstream device again, and the traffic can be forwarded. To shorten the service interruption period, set a shorter aging time for ARP entries. In V100R006 and later versions, run the mac-address update arp command to enable the switch to update ARP entries when the MAC addresses of upstream devices change, which shortens traffic interruption period (within seconds).

It is possible that you have to pair it first with another Bluetooth device. Likely unit senses that there is not active incoming Bluetooth connection and it goes into power savingo mode or standby. Check your manual for proper setup.

I'm trying to setup vlan 1 for data and vlan2 for voice. help please...

This depends on what the devices are doing with VLAN tagging. In the switch settings you will want to add VLAN2 and make sure you set it to Fixed on the ports you want to allow VLAN2 to work on. VLAN1 is already configured for all ports.
If your devices are tagging the VLAN2 traffic but not the VLAN1 traffic you don't need to do anything. By default any incoming non-tagged traffic will be set to VLAN1. This is because the PVID is set to 1 by default. If you need the incoming traffic to be tagged with VLAN2 changed the ports PVID to 2.

NetGear WGR826V has no clear port forwarding section in the setup, the mamnual is as clear as brick as to forwarding...so how do I forward a port on this brain dead router?

Ok well this is out of the manual, to me it seems straight forwards, but it is a brick too though, there is an example to help you, basically you tell it the Address of the PC, (Right click on NIC and get address) that you want ports to go to.. then ALLOW it, UN-disable actually.. in the tables.

Failover best option required..

You can only do active/active if you're using multiple contexts. Active/active can give you some extra performance for your $ since you can pass traffic through both ASAs. Compare this to active/standby where the standby unit passes no traffic.

If you're pushing the 5510's to 80% capacity each in active/active mode, then you have one fail, now the one single ASA is oversubscribed. The oversubscription could cause connectivity issues that defeat the purpose of failover in the first place.

In the spirit of reliability go with active/standby. Seeing that you have two active core switches that would be pushing all of their traffic through a single 5510 in this case....it may be too much active/active may be the better solution.
