SOURCE: user password lockout

Hard disk password is set from the BIOS. It is usually set in conjunction with the Power On Password. This password is stored on the EEPROM chip and is very difficult to crack - no backdoor passwords. It is used to prevent unauthorized access to the laptop and the data on the hard disk. Removing the hard disk and inserting it into another computer will not allow access to data without the HDD password.

SOURCE: How to reset BIOS password on VGN FE880E

If you have forgotten your BIOS or system password, there are no software tricks or magical gimmicks that will get the password cleared. Laptops are different in that they are designed to not work with “backdoors” etc. for security reasons. There is one true way that works most of the time and that is hardware.
The Cmos (RTC) battery that is mounted on the motherboard in most cases holds the key, if your motherboard has the battery that is connected to the motherboard by using a two wire socket that plugs into the MOBO, then here is the procedure.
On the motherboard where the battery plugs into, you will see two pins sticking straight up, these engage the plug on the battery side. These two pins have to be “shorted” and then the motherboard powered up for approx. 30 seconds, then power down the system and replace the Cmos battery and reboot. Your password problem should be cleared up. The best way to “short” the pins is get another cmos battery and cut the wires from the battery part, bare the ends and twist together, this will short the pins. Make sure you tape the connection good on the jumper you just made….don’t want to touch anything else with powered up bare wires. Good luck.

Hi Mitch,

To clear the bios password, we need to reset the CMOS battery that supplies power to BIOS (non-volatile memory). You need to open the laptop and do the following suggested in below picture.

If you have only one login account and you have forgotten the password, you have to re-install vista operating system to login again.

How to enable Windows 7 administrator account and reset lost Win 7 admin...

How to enable Windows 7 administrator account and reset lost Win 7 admin password
There are two parts for your Windows 7:
* Enable Windows 7 administrator account
* Reset lost Win 7 admin password
With 240 million licenses sold out in one year, Windows 7 has been proved to be a successful product of Microsoft. Compared with its previous versions like Windows XP, it has many improved features. The built-in administrator account is one of the features. In Windows XP, there is a default administrator account after installation. But the built-in administrator account is disabled by default in Windows 7. To enable Windows 7 administrator account and assign a password to it, you can achieve it in 2 methods.
Part I: Enable Windows 7 administrator account
Method 1: Use Command Prompt
The easiest way to enable the Windows 7 built-in administrator account is to use the Command Prompt.
1. Click Start and type CMD in the search box. Right-click CMD and select Run as Administrator.
2. Click Yes when prompted to allow the Command Processor to run. And then the command prompt will appear.
3. Type net user in the command prompt window, and then hit Enter. All the Windows account user names will be listed. You'll also see the Administrator account, but now it is not enabled.
4. Type net user administrator /active:yes and hit Enter to enable Windows 7 admin account.
Now the Windows 7 administrator account is created. To create the Windows 7 administrator password, you can follow the below steps:
1. Switch to log on Windows 7 with the administrator account.
2. Click Start, Control Panel, User Accounts and Family Safety and User Accounts in order. You'll enter the screen where you can make changes for your account.
3. Click Create a password for your account on the screen.
4. In the coming screen, type and confirm your Win 7 admin password.
5. Enter password hint and click Create Password.
Now your Windows 7 admin password is successfully created.
Method 2: Use Local Users and Groups
1. Click Start and type lusrmgr.msc in the search box, and then hit Enter. The Local Users and Groups screen will come up.
2. Double-click the Users folder. And all the Windows 7 account will be displayed for you.
3. Right-click the Administrator account and select Properties.
4. Uncheck the "Account is disabled" check-box and click OK on the administrator properties screen.
Now Win 7 admin account is enabled. To set a password for the enabled Windows 7 administrator account, follow the steps as below:
1. Right-click the Administrator account and select Set Password.
2. Click Proceed to go on your operation
3. Type and confirm your new Win 7 admin password and click Ok
4. Close the Local Users and Groups screen.
Now the Windows 7 administrator password is assigned to your Windows 7 admin account.
Part II: Reset lost Win 7 admin password
Windows 7 administrator password reset Tips:
Note 1. Please remember to create a Windows 7 password reset disk after assigning Windows administrator password. It allows you to change your forgotten Win 7 admin password when you are locked out of Windows.
Note 2. If you forgot to create the password reset disk, you can choose to use Windows Password Breaker to help create a Windows 7 password reset disk rather than reinstalling the system. Now follow the steps to create the disk to reset Windows 7 password.
step 1. Download and install Windows Password Breaker.
step 2. Run the program and burn a Windows password reset disk.
Step 3. Reset Windows 7 administrator password with the disk.
It is an easy and safe way for Windows 7 admin password reset.

Bought a Fugitsu T4020D with a broken screen at a yard sale. Fixed the screen but it is password locked at BIOS, and before Windows loads. How can I unlock the BIOS to get into this thing?

1. Bypass Windows 7 Logon Password with Command Prompt While computer couldn't boot normally or notebook is infected with Trojans or malware, you can get rid of them by starting computer in Windows Safe Mode. Furthermore, when lost or forgot Windows password, you can also bypass Windows 7 logon password easily in Safe Mode.
In Windows 7, there are 3 different types of safe modes to choose, Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking and Safe Mode with Command Prompt. And the following guide is about how to bypass Windows login password with Command Prompt in Safe Mode. With net user command in Windows safe mode, you can reset Windows password effectively. Details as follows:
Step 1: Start or restart your Windows 7 computer.
Step 2: Press F8 to enter Advanced Boot Options before the Windows 7 loading screen appears.
Step 3: Choose Safe Mode with Command Prompt in the coming screen, and then press Enter.
Step 4: Wait for Windows 7 files loading until Windows login screen comes up.
Step 5: Log in Windows with an administrator account until you see login screen.
Step 6: A Command Prompt appears. Type net user in the Command Prompt and then hit Enter. All Windows user accounts will be listed for you.
Step 7: Type net user iSunshare 12345 and hit Enter.
Note: "iSunshare" is your locked Windows user account name. And "12345" means the new password you want to reset for the locked account. User account "iSunshare" will be reset with new password "12345".
Step 8: The new password has been successfully reset for user when the command is completed successfully.
Step 9: Login Windows 7 PC with the new password.
Whenever you need to access Windows in Safe Mode, an administrator account password is necessary. So it is highly recommended that write down Windows password and store it or creating a Windows password recovery disk before Windows password lost.

Im locked out cant remember password or username

Naturally, the easiest and simplest way to reset win 7 password is reset it with win 7 password reset disk or use the net user command to reset it. So you should check whether you have a pre-created windows 7 password reset disk, or have another available account who has administrator privilege before you try other solutions to solve this problem.

Resetting Your Forgotten Windows Password

Boot off the Windows disk and select the "Repair your computer" option from the lower left-hand corner.

Follow through until you get to the option to open the Command Prompt, which you'll want to select.
First you'll want to type in the following command to backup the original sticky keys file:

copy c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe c:\

Then you'll copy the command prompt executable (cmd.exe) over top of the sticky keys executable:

copy c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe

Resetting the Password

Once you get to the login screen, hit the Shift key 5 times, and you'll see an administrator mode command prompt.

Now to reset the password-just type the following command, replacing the username and password with the combination you want:

net user geek MyNewPassword

That's all there is to it. Now you can login.

Of course, you'll probably want to put the original sethc.exe file back, which you can do by rebooting into the installation CD, opening the command prompt, and copying the c:\sethc.exe file back to c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe.
