Looks like the fall damaged the unit. Try turning it in for warranty. Off course don't mention the falling. Just tell them the yellow light appeared out of nowhere.

It's still risky though, if Sony suspects something happened to it before this problem they will probably not trade the unit or let you pay for a new one.
