I would bet on the liftgate module (LGM) It controls all that stuff back there,wiper,defrost,gate ajar light,gate lock and unlock ect. Might try wiggleing the wiring boot where the wires go from the body to the gate,if it changes anything,bet on a broken wire inside that boot.
If not the LGM is my first thought.

I don't think the piece of rubber has anything to do with the functionality of the latch itself it usually there for keeping the latch quiet like no rattle or metal noise on the road.

there are two hydraulic cylinders that normally hold the gate up. likely the gate was pushed open hard in cold weather, popping the seals in the cylinders. you will need to replace the cylinders. then, do not push the lift gate up to open it. it should be able to rise by itself. if it does not, you can gently ease it open slowly.

There are two fuse boxes/block

One fuse block is located under the hood in the engine

compartment on the driver's side of the vehicle.

Remove the primary cover by pressing the two locking

tabs. Remove the secondary cover by snapping off

while lifting. To reinstall the fuse panel cover, reverse
the sequence.

The 2nd fuse box is located under the rear seat cushion

There are some mechanical rods in the rear hatch that are probably rusty and you will have to take the inner panel off to acces and clean them to get them moving to operate the lock.

You need to replace the two gas struts on either side of the rear hatch.

both the rear passenger side wont unlock ???? How many doors are on the passenger side ? Or both back doors don't unlock ? Two relays lock / unlock the back door's Not the lift gate . The BCM controls the relay's . The relay's are located in the rear fuse box . Under back seat .

Replace the door lock / unlock relay in the fuse box next to the driver side door. no problem since than.
