My Dyson V6 is 3 days old. It worked great Day 1 & 2. Now it seems like the motor "surges" on and off and on and off so I can't use it properly. The canister was barely full but emptied it anyway.

The canister is empty but does the filter need to be cleaned already...so soon after only 3 days since it was brand new?

Hi Christy, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your Dyson V6 cordless vacuum is pulsing on and off, this will be due to something preventing airflow from passing through the machine. Once you've checked the floor tool and wand for any blockages, the next thing to check is the bin inlet, as well as the bin inlet flap. It's possible some debris could be jamming the inlet flap shut. I've made you a quick video to help you with some further troubleshooting, and I'm confident this will get your V6 up and running again.

I hope this helps, but if you need some further assistance after you've given this a try, please contact the Dyson Customer Helpline directly by calling 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA), or 0800 298 0298 (UK). We'll be happy to help further.

Have 1 year old hand held v6 motorhead. When pressing the trigger to start. The unit surges on and off repeatedly on a 1 second pulse. How do this get corrected

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your Dyson cleaner is pulsating off and on. First, it can be due to a battery of the cleaner. Make sure that the power cable is properly plug to the power and seated properly from the unit while charging. If you find that the battery isn't charging at all, you may need to replace the battery. Second is to check the MAX button of your cleaner. If the button lights up and flashes when your Dyson keeps on pulsating, press and hold the power button and depress the MAX button to turn off the function. You may need to do it for a few times to get the hang of it. Third is to check for any blockages or clogs in the attachments. Look down through the tube and check to see if there are clogs on the sweeper end or if the roller is tangled up in fibers. Clean the roller brush are if it it's necessary. You may need to empty the dust bin of your unit as debris can build up in hard to reach places. Lastly, cleaning the filters may fix the pulsating of your cleaner. Remove the filter and rinse it with cold water and air dry it for 12 hours. Don't use detergent when washing your filters. If the pulsating doesn't go with the given quick fix, I suggest to contact Dyson for further assistance on this.

The V6 seems to be permanently on 'Max'

Hi Sandy, it's Jack at Dyson.

Our V6 cord-free vacuums have two power modes. There's regular high power for day to day vacuuming tasks, and Max mode for tackling really stubborn dirt, clinging pet hair etc.

To change between modes, you need to hold down the red on/off trigger so the vacuum is running. Then at the same time, press and release the illuminated Max button on the rear of the main body. You'll hear a change in the sound the motor makes when you switch between modes:

Dyson dc25 animal - head won't stay on the floor - doesn't seem to be rotating correctly

I am having the same issue in 2022. Dyson says I have to buy a new machine. EVERYTHING else works perfectly and I can vacuum the floors IF I hold it almost upright. Who can clean a 2,000 square foot house with hardwood, tile and carpet like that?? Not me! I cannot believe this can't be fixed in this day and age. Am I to take it to the recycle center? What about the perfectly good 8 attachments I have for it? If I get a new one, it will come with 4 or 6 of the same attachments. This is a total waste of money in this day and age -- to say nothing of disposing it in the landfill!!! I AM NOT HAPPY with Dyson at the moment.

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

If the machine had been left overnight and then would not switch on the next day, then this sounds as though there may be a problem with the switch or the motor.

I found this on a search one day. You will need either their tool or a long star screwdrivers(I think that's what hubby said) to take off one part of it.
