Tony, Tony, Tony, shame, shame, shame, you only have one harness or leads, wires, whatever you wish to call them. There are ONLY TWO that will connect for power onto the HDD you have described. I am sorry I gave you too much information. Good luck!

I'm replacing a Bestec ATX1956D power supply and want to know if going to a 300 watt power supply is better. More watts, longer lasting? What's the advantage to more watts? Thanks, Bill

I wouldn't say it's necessarily longer lasting, but more watts are better for computer users that use more devices that pull power from the PC. For example, if you are hooking up several USB peripherals that draw their power over USB, or installing extra drives in the computer that will need power.

Hi,
You can find the same psu at ebay with free shipping.

Install a temporary power supply to verify condition.

That mean you have bought the wrong PSU.

Return the new one, when you are at the store you purchased it from, ask them for a Micro ATX PSU, that is the kind you need.

The only other thing you will need to know is how many watts you want it to be, a decent one would be 400-550 watts

Upgrade for Bestec ATX-1956D (HP p/n: 0950-4106)

How about the LC Power LC350M Micro ATX - 380 Watt

or the

Logisys 350W Micro ATX

They should fit your form factor and output as much as 350W being relatively cheap, but neither gets 18 amps on 12V rail...
I think no power supply of that size has an output like that...think about a cheap but substancial chassis upgrade if you need that power...Have a look at directron for the PSUs.
