It does greatly depend on the shape of the crystal. If it is an unusual shape, this would need a very skilled person to shape it correctly. If it is a regular round shape, these are easier to come by. This UK web site [link in blue] offers watch parts including crystals to give you an idea on prices. I use a vernier to measure the diameter and thickness of the crystal I wish to replace and UV activated glue to fix the replacement crystal in place and one of those UV nail lamps to cure the glue. This should be done in a clean environment and I use finger cots to prevent fingerprints. The whole process takes about 30 to 60 minutes. Any _competant_ watch repair place should be able to help you. At least you know the process now :)

SOURCE: Casio GW300 (2608) battery replacement

Hey all. The charge provided by the solar cells on the watch only really extend the life of the battery. The total run time of a battery depends on how the watch is used... backlight requirements etc. The battery will be depleted and need to be replaced.

Here is a site that has good instructions on how to change the battery in your G-Shock watch.

If you want to ensure you still have a the same water resistance rating, I do suggest that you take it to a watch guy to have it replaced for you. They clean switch contacts also and you keep water resistance rating. Good Luck and vote this as a "FixYa". Cheers

SOURCE: Glass that covers the face of the watch is shattered-$ to replace

I am not sure about prices in US, but over here in England we charge £15 - £25 for mineral glass (depending on size, thickness, e.t.c.) and £50 - £120 for sapphire glass. As for today: £1 = 1.60$. Doesn't matter how you name it - glass or crystal, both are right.

The crystal face of the watch is cracked. We need to have the crystal replaced. Where do we send it in? Our watch repair doesn't handle things like that! It is an Akribos watch.

there are many different options, you can "google" watch repair, and choose someone to send it to. any local jewelry store should be able to give it to their watchmaker for a replacement crystal.

The crystal cracked on the face of my watch and I need it replaced. Where can I sen it to be replaced?

The crystal is an exact fit so I would recommend sending it back to the makers to get a price for a replacement crystal or take it to a watchmaker and he will send it back for you

How do you remove back cover to replace 296 wrist watch battery

Thank you for contacting FixYa.
  • Place the watch face-down on a clean towel to protect the crystal.

  • 2

Gently unscrew the backplate from the watch with a small jeweler's screwdriver and set it aside.

  • 3

Locate the battery compartment and remove the screw holding the cover in place, using the screwdriver. The battery is a small, round silvery button.

  • 4

Make a note of the battery polarity before you remove it. Is the battery positive (+) side up or negative (-)?

  • 5

Take the battery with you to a watch shop or electronics store to buy a replacement.

  • 6

Insert the new battery in the compartment. Replace the battery cover and reverse the above steps to reattach the back cover of your Peugeot watch

How do I replace the battery

mcdevito75 here, This can be very, very tricky on a Casio watch, Casio"s have an LCD liquid crystal Diode in the face and any un-do pressure on the face will break it. Best Bet, look for a small watch repair shop in your area to change the battery, a small shop will save you some money on the cost.

    Broken crystal

Very common! Did you change the battery yourself? This is why I always suggest people take their watches to a reputable watch repair shop! You would be paying for a battery and not a new crystal! :-) You should be able to take it to a shop and have it replaced...although rectangle crystals can be tricky to find for exact fit!

    Good luck!

My dog got ahold of my 405 and broke the face glass. Can I get it replaced?

Any good watch repair shop can measure the size of your watch crystal and order a replacement, unless it happens to have some weird shape, like a heart, etc

Relic doesn't run. TheFossil is missing the bezel.

There is a little tab next to the battery that should have an arrow pointing to it. You will have to depress the tab with a pin to get either the watch to start, or the eight ball and flames to start flashing, after replacing the battery. If this doesn't work, the watch is probably junk, as the movement has been damaged from the impact that broke the crystal. I have done this exact thing on this type of watch two years ago, which is how I know, except that the flashing image in the background was the chinese characters for love, peace, and happiness. It was also a Fossil Relic. Hope this helps. Bilal Hassan Clarksville, MD

Can't put (back) back on my timex indiglo

I used to work with jewelry. !!BEWARE!!
This method is for face crystals that are completely FLAT! Any convex crystal will shatter without proper tools!!!
Any method of putting the watch cover back with the watch remotely near water/moisture is a mistake. The watch will rust sooner or later.
So if you don't want to pay a jeweler five dollars to put it back on, this is what I did to my sister's watch cover when I could not snap it back.
I took my cushy 1/4 inch mousepad to a vise. You may not have a vise. If you don't, stop reading now and take the watch to a jeweler --one who replaces batteries.
Inside the vise jaws, I used a 5 inch square piece of wood, then my cushy mousepad, then the watch facing the pad, then the back in the right place for restoring.
!!!!NOTE: Not having the back in the right place will smash the stem and damage can/will result!!!
To push the back on, I picked a 12 point socket out of my socket set that was the same DIAMETER as the watch back and placed it CENTERED behind the back.
    Recapping, inside vise:
    • small board
    • cushy mousepad (to avoid scarring and crystal breakage
    • watch crystal facing mousepad
    • watch back in correct position
    • ratchet socket the same diameter as watch back centered behind cover
Slowly I positioned all these items with minimal pressure. Then when I was sure that I was ready (and prepared to hear the crystal break) I put as little pressure closing the vise that I could. The I heard a snap, and to my relief, it was the back going in!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO WHAT I DID. People with broken watch crystals become very IRATE when "all it needed was a battery"!

A screw clamp would also give adequate pressure. Any unsupported direct pressure over the crystal will shatter it!

    Hope this helped.
    Good luck!!!!
