Take it back to the post office...do the right thing, you would want someone to do that if your package was delivered to there address by mistake. At least there someone can track their package because that is the first place people would go to for missing packages.
That's a good question. Amazon will general accept a return within 90 days of purchase. First, log in to your Amazon account. In the uper right portion of the page you will see a button for "My Orders". Click it and you can either type the item name in the search box or scroll down to find the item in question. In the box containing your order you will find a few options. There you can select "return Item". Click on that and you will be promted to select the reason for your return. If you select the choice for defective item you will be prompted to print prepaid return label, At that time you will usually be prompted to select a refund or replacement.
"If you don't open the package, you can write "Return to Sender-Refused"on it. Your carrier should pick it up the next day or you could drop it off at the stamp window of your local post office. Once you open the package however that constitutes "receiving the package" so you must pay to return it if you have opened it". Quoted from Quora
If they provided a return label, then that label would have had tracking included. If they don't have any record of the item being shipped back to them, it was likely never shipped back to them and is still in your possession (or whoever you thought was returning it for you).
No one here has the ability to return something to Amazon for you, or to change information on any shippers tracking system.
