There are free manuals online just type in the model and manufacturer using any search engine and links to free manuals will appear. OR you can read a copy of manual online. DON'T BUY ONE until you are ready. FREE is better.

Search the internet for:

Make + Model + the word "Manual"

or contact manufacturer support.

there's a free manual for a 268 model available through the Singer website, strange as it may seem. (In fact you can find free manuals for many White brand sewing machines via the Singer website.)

Look under Singer's "Support and Resources" then select "Instruction manuals" , or follow this link: http://www.singerco.com/support/instruction-manuals

On the Instructions Manual page you'll see it says "Find Your Manual - Step 1, Step 2 etc etc" and under that there's a search box that says "Model Number"

Into this search box just type "w"
(don't type "white", because that doesn't work)

You'll be taken to a near incomprehensible results page but scroll down and you'll see there's one listed as "W268"
