Bad controller board probably, other makes have this problem too.

My display screen is white..all other camera functions are fine

Identify whether the LCD is bad or not. One way to do this is to take a picture with the camera and then download it to PC. If the picture looks good, then the LCD screen is bad. Replace LCD. Easiest way is to buy through EBAY a damaged camera with good LCD. You may be able to get it very cheap. Then replace it yourself. Remove few screws on the case, open the case. Usually, LCD can be easily removed once the case is open.

My screen colors are corrupted such that blues are green, reds are electric blue, yellows are lavender-pink. Pictures taken since this happened are OK when transferred to PMB/other picture program. Do not...

Hi,

This is a common problem on this set. This is either due to faulty CCD sensor or faulty LCD screen. Look at the previous recorded images or videos. If you see the same white lines in previous saved images or video's , it would be suggestive of LCD screen unless it is a faulty CCD sensor.

If that is LCD panel, it is not worth repair. If that is CCD sensor, then you could call up Sony to check whether CCD sensor of your model is under recall or not.

Read an old article :-

http://www.imaging-resource.com/badccds.html

If it is not under recall, try to get some good replacement or repair at low cost unless invest in new camera.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

My screen is completely white with blue lines.

You might have bumped the LCD screen, they break really easily. You can replace it yourself by ordering one on Ebay for about $25.00. A repair shop quoted me $125, but I would buy a new one in that case. It's not hard to change one, but you have to be careful, and make sure you discharge the flash capacitor. If you google the problem mentioning the make, model no., and add "changing LCD screen" you will find a lot of articles on it. Good luck, and maybe get a hard case for your next camera.

Blue vertical line on LCD screen

Thus meaning what display on the LCD is exactly what "enters" through the lens. Is this a hairline or thick line appearing on the LCD and does the same happen on the photos/pictures when they are downloaded on a PC? If so "something" could have infiltrated into/onto the camera lens....

Vertical lines on screen. Can't see picture at

It sounds like you need a new screen.

Buy one on Ebay for 20 Euro (inclusive of postage)

youtube.com has great videos of how to change a screen.
You will need a tweezers and very small "philips" (cross/plus head) screwdriver.
Make sure the screwdriver has magnets....so that you dont lose some screws....they are tiny.

If you buy a replacement "LCD Screen Display" on Ebay then usually all the tools you need are included. (I just checked).

I also have just replaced my screen....screen was damaged...LCD leaked and lots of vertical lines on a now only WHITE screen.
Camera works fine now.

Check to see if the camera is still working.
Try taking some pictures....and then put the SD-card into your computer to see if the pictures are being taken.

White Screen

I have Fuji FinePix 2650 Digital camera with same problem. I can almost guarantee this is not a firmware problem. I went mountain biking a few months ago and take pictures. I take out camera and turn on. I get lines then white screen. I banged on camera and fixed it. Later a few weeks ago I turn it on and white screen. i beat this thing and get bad menu selection screen for a moment then white again. It takes pictures well and talk to computer no problem but no LCD picture. I thinking it is loose connection for LCD. Send it for repair or if you seek adventure try to fix it yourself!

Blank lcd screen when camera is on

If the LCD is all white when this occurs it is the LCD that is at fault. Verify this by shooting a couple photos, if the photos look good when viewed on a computer, the CCD is not at fault. The LCD module has had problems with the harness that connects it rubbing againts the metal frame of the camera and causing similar problems. Hope this helps you. Joe Weibel customelectronics.org
