The downloaded file has an extension of .264. VLC won't play it
H. 264 is a well-known video compression standard for high-definition digital video. Also known as MPEG-4 Part 10 or Advanced Video Coding (MPEG-4 AVC), H. 264 is defined as a block-oriented, compensation-based video compression standard that defines multiple profiles (tools) and levels (max bitrates and resolutions).
VLC is supposed to play the H.264 file. You can try to play the H.264 file on other players. Or you can convert it to other file formats with H.264 converter for Windows and Mac so that you can play it on VLC.
H.264, also known as MPEG-4 AVC, is a next-generation video compression format. It is developed to be mainly used in high definition systems such as HDTV, Blu-ray and HD DVD as well as low resolution portable devices such as Sony's PSP and Apple's iPod. For opening and playing H.264 files, you can try VLC Media Player, Leawo Blu-ray Player, CyberLink PowerDVD 17MW MPlayer, etc.
H.264 is the Video Codec not the file extension. Videos encoded with H.264 generally have the file extension of .mp4. Change the extension to .mp4 and it should play in VLC.
