There is a small control board attached under the directional pad. It sounds like it has come loose from the housing. You can get to it one of two ways. You can unscrew all of the back cover screws on the console and then pop the front overlay off using the tabs under the back cover or you can get your fingernails under the edge of the plastic on the front display and pop it off that way. Precor would not approve of doing it that way but it won't hurt the display. The small D-pad pca can be easily snapped back into place. If you get to the pca and its still secured in the D-pad, the control board itself may be bad.

SOURCE: My Precor 9.21 si Treadmill shuts down upon

Hey Doug,

Just wondering has this unit ever had the running deck flipped over if not this may be sighs of worn deck or belt or both! What is starting to happen is that at the higher speed the unit is starting to draw more current, so the motrol control board will sense this and will shut down so it won't damage either the motor or board. What starts as an occassional shut down will progressively become more frequent. Simple test is put your hand palm down between the belt and deck,if you feel uneven ridges then the deck needs to be flipped over and when you pull out your hand out and their is a black sooty film on the back of it ,then that seals it this means that the composite material is being shaved off. Most likely the belt will have a smooth glazed feeling in the middle part of it. and well also need replacing.

SOURCE: the speed arrow. when I

Hi,

I will advice you try re-calibrate your treadmill, follow the procedure below to re-calibrate it,

Step 1 Stand on the side rails of the treadmill for safety purposes. Remove the safety key. Step 2 Press and hold the two incline buttons. The incline buttons are blue and on the left side of the display. Hold the up and down button simultaneously. Release the buttons when the display reads "Calibration."
Step 3 Press the green start button located either above or below the large, red stop button (depending on your model). Stay on the side rails as the treadmill belt begins to move. Both the speed and incline should go through their full range from lowest to highest, and then back down again.
Step 4 Repeat the process if the display does not read "Calibration Successful.

SOURCE: I currently replaced the walking

Dear Sir:
I can read you trouble, and follow the next steps:
ALIGNING AND ADJUSTING THE RUNNING BELT
The correct alignment of the running belt is critical to the smooth operation of the treadmill. The belt is properly aligned at the factory. However, during shipping and handling or by use on an uneven surface, the belt may move off center and require a few simple adjustments. Before aligning the running belt, check its operation by following the procedure in Checking the Alignment of the Running Belt. If you determine that the belt needs alignment, follow the instructions here. CAUTION: Special care must be taken when aligning the running belt. Turn OFF the treadmill while adjusting or working near the rear roller. Remove any loose clothing and tie back your hair. Be very careful to keep your finger or any other object clear of the belt and rollers, especially in front of the roller and behind the deck. The treadmill will not stop immediately if an object becomes caught in the belt or rollers. Realigning the belt takes a few simple adjustments. If you are unsure about this procedure, call Precor Customer Support (see Obtaining Service.) Take the following steps to align the running belt on the treadmill. To ensure your safety, make all adjustments while the treadmill is OFF. 1. Make sure the treadmill is OFF and the running belt has completely stopped. 2. Locate the right belt adjustment bolt in the rear end cap of the treadmill. (To determine left and right, stand at the rear of the treadmill and face the display.) See Diagram 24. The direction you turn the bolt depends on how the belt is tracking. Make all belt adjustments on the right rear corner bolt using the hex key provided. • If the belt is off center to the RIGHT, turn the adjusting bolt ¼ turn clockwise, which moves the running belt to the left. • If the belt tracks off center to the LEFT, turn the bolt ¼ turn counterclockwise; this moves the belt to the right. Important: Do not turn the adjusting bolt more than ¼ turn at a time. Overtightening the bolt can damage the treadmill. 3. Turn the unit ON. 4. Stand beside the treadmill and press QUICKSTART. 5. If you are prompted for a password, press INCLINE ??¼, SPEED ??¼, SPEED ??². The running belt starts automatically after the 3-second countdown appears on the display. 6. Press the SPEED ??² key until the display shows a speed of 3 mph (5 kph). 7. Walk around to the rear of the unit and observe the running belt for a few minutes. The belt should run centered along the running bed. If the belt drifts off center, you will need to make adjustments. CAUTION: If you hear any chafing or the running belt appears to be getting damaged, stop the running belt immediately by pressing the red STOP button. Contact Precor Customer Support. 8. If the belt needs additional alignment, repeat steps 1 through 7 until the belt is properly aligned. 9. After aligning the belt, press the STOP button and RESET. Turn OFF the treadmill. Tighten any loose fasteners or other components on the equipment. If you hear unusual noises or you feel that the treadmill is in need of repair or service, contact Precor Customer Support. Refer to Obtaining Service.
Finally, check if the power cord is loose, connect it again. a) See if the breaker of Home is tripped? b) See if the breaker of the Treadmill is tripped. If do the Belt is very Tighted! loose a little. Try again.
Thank you in advance, if you need assistance, you can contact me, Blessing. sincerely.

How to reset/recalibrate your treadmill after replacing drive or incline motor,...

Make sure you recalibrate your treadmill after installing ANY controller, motor or console. You can NOT over calibrate your treadmill. You want to make sure you adjust your pedometer for the correct operating speed and incline adjustment. First plug in your treadmill, do not stand on the walking belt. Hold down the "Stop" and "Speed +" key and insert the safety key or magnet, let go of the two keys. Now press "Stop" key once. This puts you into the level 2 of calibration. Press the "Speed +" key slowly until you see 85 on the console, (at this point the display is going to show the percentage of motor usage and also the actual walking belt speed) at 85% motor usage your top speed should be between 10 and 10.5 MPH or (of 12 and 12.5) depending on the treadmill. You must know your treadmills top speed. (Important the motor may be damaged if you set the maximum speed higher than the maximum speed that your treadmill is made for). If the speed is higher than 10.5 or 12.5 then you need to turn the potentiometer down to the correct level. The adjustment is made with a phillips screwdriver, and the adjustment point is on the motor controller. It is a little square metal box with a yellow plastic adjustment screw inside. If the speed it to low you need to turn the potentiometer higher. Once the speed is correct you are done calibrating the speed. Press the (-) speed key to lower the percentage to (0). Next press the incline (+) button, this will make the incline motor go all the way to the maximum incline and come all the way down to the level position. Then remove the safety key and the treadmill will reset into the normal manual mode. Double check that the treadmill is operating at the correct speed and incline motor works correctly, by running maximum settings. Once you are done, be sure your treadmill is properly protected from surges from power spikes that can destroy the work you just performed.

Hope this helped.

Why won't incline go up or down?

Calibrating Your Incline Is your incline not operating correctly? There are a few simple steps that can be followed which will most likely resolve that problem for you.
9bvipvsqvatex9kgfcnn03s5zhvtng9too4023mrox7s22mjjuue73rxrrhupctrxro022nhu0i53bbtrxqocdrxro402hhw0410bbbtxqkad79poo41hbe1410ybbtwq+p8byj8qzuzzwaoaaaaasuvork5cyii=
The first step is to press and hold both the STOP and SPEED INCREASE buttons, this will be either an UP ARROW or a + (plus) symbol. While holding these two buttons down you will need to insert your safety key.
Once you have inserted the safety key you can release the buttons and let go of the key. At this point you will need to press the STOP button one time. Congratulations, you are now in Calibration Mode.
Now that we are in calibration, press the INCLINE UP button one time. This will cause the platform to go all the way up and then it will come all the way back down again.
Now that the incline has stopped moving you can remove the safety key.

The term immobilize is on the display panel and I want to start it up. How do I get it going again?

When necessary to immobilize the treadmill, set display to read SELECT A WORKOUT. (Press the STOP Key
twice if not already there). Then hold down the SPEED DOWN Key and press the STOP Key. The treadmill
now displays IMMOBILIZED. In this state, the treadmill cannot be operated. The main motor and incline are
disabled. The treadmill will remain in this state across resets, power cycles, etc. To restore normal operation,
repeat the same key sequence: hold down the SPEED DOWN Key and press the STOP Key. The treadmill will
display SELECT A WORKOUT again.

Treadmill keeps inclining and declining . It won't stop!

I have a Proform ZT5 model - had the same incline/decline problem. It needed calibrated.
- unplug, turn off, and take the key out
- plug machine in
- turn switch on
- Pres and hold the STOP and SPEED UP button at the same time, while holding them insert the RED KEY
- let go of both buttons
- press STOP 1 time
- pres INCLINE UP 1 time
- this should reset it.

The tech on the phone mentioned the importance of turning the maching off, taking the key out, and unplugging after each use. Leaving it plugged in there is still an electrical current running and this can cause more seriouc problems that require a new control panel.

We have a 600 mx and the pad is not working, the only button working is the start, i cannot increase speed or incline it either.

It is very unusual to have no incline or walking belt operation..
Try entering diagnostic mode and do a calibration. The instructions are found under the motor cover on a tech sheet.
1: with the safety key removed, press stop and speed up simultaniously.
2: Attach the magnetic safety key.
3: press stop 1 time.
4: at this time, by pressing the incline up, the incline should calibrate, going up to maximum then back to minimum..
5: press the speed up key, you will see the numbers on the console increase. The machine should start moving the walking belt around 25-30 on the display. At 85 the belt should be running at maximum speed.
6: press speed down, the machine should stop.
7: remove the safety key. Now replace the safety key and try the machine again. If any of this procedure didn't work, I would suspect a defective console. Otherwise, the motor controller may need replacing.
Good Luck

No existing problem. what is proper lubrication for pm maintenance? any other check points?

.5 oz of Icon lubricant(can be purchased on ebay cheapest) applied to deck. Adjust the walkbelt, check drive belt tension, check amperage on motor no load and under load, calibrate the speed and incline. You can calibrate your treadmill by doing the following:
let's try to calibrate the speed

1. With the key off press the speed + and stop buttons at the same time and hold
2. place the key on and release the buttons
3. press the stop key once
4. press the speed up til it reaches 85
5. if your max speed is 10 mph then it should read about 9.8-10.2
6. If it is over or under we will need to adjust the speed potentiometer on the motor controller
7. to do this remove the motor hood and find the electronic board.
8. there will be a round adjustable pot on the board that you can place a small screwdriver in to adjust.
9. depending on if you need it to speed up or slow down is the direction you will need to turn it.
10. the goal is to get it to be about .1-.2 mph more then the max speed of the treadmill.
11. As long as it is in the range above it is performing ok.

now to calibrate the incline:
1. remove safety key
2. press and hold the speed+ and stop keys at the same time
3. Put the safety key in/on and release the keys
4. press stop once
5. hit the incline + arrow and let the incline go the whole way up and down

You may need to calibrate the incline. Do this with the following procedure.
Safety key out
press the stop and speed up buttons at the same time while inserting the safety key. (you are now in diagnostics)
press the stop button one time only.
now press the incline up button (incline motor should start moving up)
incline will go up to the top and then all the way to the bottom. when it gets done you can remove the key. Reinsert the key and you should be operating normally.
