This tv takes time for the picture to fade in so if you hold the power button to long it turns on but before the picture fades in it turns off so just tap the button and wait for the picture to fade in.

This chassis model line had issues with the vertical output IC shorting causing shut down.
It also had issues with intermittent solder connections in the Horizontal Circuit. I would not try to fix it your self unless you are very familiar with Projection circuitry and electronics background.
Hope this helps,

I have a vs-60609 60"

Sounds like a Picture in Picture screen popping up, but if you do not have a signal from another tuner, it will be blank.

Try hitting the PIP button on your remote to see if it turns it off and on.
Plus go into the tv menu and find the PIP settings.

Mitsubishi vs-50609 wont stay powered on

Hello nicolastran,

I gave this advice to someone with this same problem so here it is again:

It sounds like your shutdown circuit is being activated. This is due to excess current being drawn. This usually happens in the High Voltage section of the TV or one of the deflection stages. Due to the nature of this problem I would suggest that you take it to a local TV repair shop or have a TV repair person come out and take a look at the issue. The HV section is dangerous and should be dealt with by a qualified TV repair technician.

Thank you,
I hope this helps

Mitsubishi VS 5001r 1989 won't turn on.

Check the horizontal output and the low voltage regulators . Also push the input and menu buttons on the set in together hold for 5 seconds and see if the light blinks out a code. If it does let me know what the code is.

Mitsubishi VS-50501 - Black Screen

Is the power light staying on? If so press imput and menu together for 5 seconds to see if the set will blink a 2 digit repeating code. If that doesnt work. Check for CRT coolant leaks on the boards. This seems to happen alot as do faulty capacitors. Coolant leaks will be located on the chassis directly under the tubes they can cause corrosion and prevent your set from starting especially in the VS models.

Mitsubishi VS-50800 on/off problem

It sounds like, and I'm only making an educated guess here, but I'm thinking your television is broken and you should probably get a new one if you want to continue watching television.
