Check the ground wire that goes from the negative side of the battery to the engine block. I have seen them break at the connection on the block. You can test to see if it is broken by connecting a wire from the ground lug on the side of the generator and holding it to a bolt on the side of the engine and see if it will start. Also the low oil sensor will prevent the spark if you are low on oil.

How do I cross reference a discontinued part to see if an upgrade is available

On a honda part, I would check with Honda directly. Their customer relations folks are good to deal with:

I did find that part on EBay for sale. I have to admit, I don't recall seeing that part on a Honda eu3000.

Generator don't generate electricity,there are no 240v

The EU3000 is a 120v generator so you cannot get 240v from it.

Honda eu3000is generator surges

Inverter Generator Benefits
  • The EU3000 series generators are inverter generators. The generator features an alternator, which produced high-voltage, multi-phase AC power. This power is converted to DC power and then converted back to AC. This process is controlled by a microprocessor and is necessary to provide stable, consistent power capable of running equipment sensitive to power surges. This type of generator provides higher fuel efficiency and lower operational noise ratings in a lighter model than home and work generators produced by Honda.

EU3000i Handi Specifications
  • The Honda EU3000i Handi is a 3,000-watt inverter generator that features wheels, folding handle and a recessed convenience light. The engine is a Honda GX160, which features a 163-cc displacement. The AC output is 120 volts, with an average rating of 2,600 watts and a maximum production of 3,000 watts. There are three receptacles to include a 20A, 125-volt duplex and a 30A, 125-volt locking plug. The DC output is 12 volts and 100 watts. The EU3000i can hold 1.56 gallons of unleaded fuel, which will provide consumers with 3.6 hours of run time at 25 percent load for 7.7 hours.

Hi, You need to check the ignition plug behind to ensure it is still working fine. You will need a spanner for this and unscrew it anticlockwise.

My generator eu3000 will see its third winter in Western Washington and it does not start with the key. My wife needs the generator to run an oxygen machine, so the key start is critical. When I try the...

The EU3000 is a gel-pack (spill-proof) battery. Using a 10mm wrench or socket, remove the four (4) screws that hold the end cover on the machine.
Use a voltage meter and test the battery at rest (no load, not running). You should see 12 or higher volts DC. Record the voltage and then start the unit manually. Turn the ECO throttle "OFF" so the unit revs up to full RPM. You should see 14 or higher volts DC to verify that the charging system is OK.
The conclusion:
If the 12V test shows less than 10VDC, replace battery.
If the 14V test shows less than 12VDC, have a HONDA AUTHORIZED shop diagnose it for you.

Hope this helps.

Need more amperage from generator.

No! The two receptacles are already connected together where they take power from the generator. Two are provided so that you can plug in two items, but the total power must not exceed the rating of the generator.
