I already hate this jig saw bc of this issue. Every time they try to build a better mousetrap it's NEVER an improvement over a good old fashioned, totally simple screw tightening method.

Dewalt Jig Saw

DeWalt Jig Saw MANUAL ManualsOnline com

Blade catch wears out too fast
I loved this tool when it was working but after not that much use the teeth that hold the blade under pressure no longer hold hard enough to prevent the blade from coming out. The mechanism that holds the blade has no catch hole, it uses a few serated teeth to pressure hold the blade in place. Unfortunately, once the pressure starts to lessen you can't tighten it down...

How do you change a jig saw blade

At the front, above the blade, is a finger slot. Insert finger and pull forward. Blade will be released. Insert new T blade and release finger.

Got a dewalt dw321k. Bought it new years ago. Cannot get a blade into it at all. Undone the top but still can't get blade in. Any ideas??????

These t-top blades are not obvious in how they fit, but fortunately they have been around long enough that there are lots of people that can help you. It may be humiliating, but just take the saw to any hardware or home-improvement store and ask somebody there to show you how it works---- or you could save face by leaving your saw at home and just asking for help with one on display! Just about any saw that uses this style of blade (which is most of them now) will work the same way, so you don't even have to find your exact same model. Good luck.

I've just started re-using my older Dewalt D313-04 jig saw but I'm finding replacement blades hard to find. Is the "U shank" meaning ... universal ... that Bosch and others sell going to be...

Hi, Using Black and Decker blades should be ok as they are part of the same company. Bosch jig saw blades work just as well to be honest and tend to be cheaper sometimes as they are geared more for trade where as Black and Decker are more for the Diy and they like to hike the price up. There are lot of cheap 'For Dewalt' blades for sale on ebay, and from past experience stay well clear. They are copy's of genuine Dewalt, made of cheap steel and not as sharp, they don't last long and snap so easy while in use, so stick to a good branded make.

Blade keeps falling out. What am I doing wrong?

ive had this problem many times, first make sure you have the right blade, then you need to make sure you are seating it correctly, and tightening correctly.

Blade comes out while sawing

I have used the same tool. Make sure that the blade release/ hold tab is engaged. Maybe the return spring is fouled or stuck. Try some lubricant.
