I just replaced mine. It IS a Casio JF-100MS. The LR44 battery listed is also a #357. Take out the 3 black screws on the back - 2 at the top and one at the bottom. The back comes straight off up from the body if you are looking at the back - (keys pointing down).

You need a tiny flat blade screwdriver to get it into the groove between the back & body. Its easier to insert about 1/4 of the way down from the top between the top of the keys and the display where the grey color of the back wraps around the front in a small grey band below the display.

Slowly work the screwdriver around the back perimeter to get it to release from the body. Once off you will see the back of the circuit board and the small chrome cradle cover around the battery. You push the battery out towards the outside which is mostly open except for a very small tab. Mine was very corroded.

After pushing the battery out I cleaned the cage cover and the circuit board where the battery touches it until shiny. Insert new battery - lettering up not down on circuit board - making sure contact with board and cage is OK. Set cover over circuit board into body, carefully squeeze along the sides of the cover to pop-it in tight to the body all around. Then replace the 3 small screws you originally took out carefully..

I couldn't find the manual for your JF-100MS but I have a Casio FX series calculator that, like yours, is solar + battery backup. On the back of the calculator there should be a small door or coverplate with a tiny screw. If you remove the screw the cover should come off and you can then access the button cell battery for replacement.

SOURCE: how do I calculate the

It seemed there is no Modulo function in fx-100MS. But Mod is just the remainder of a division operator.

So if you have A mod B = C, divide A by B, subract the remaining whole number, and multiply it by B to get C.

Example:

7 mod 4 = 3

In the Calculator:

7 / 4 = 1.75, then 1.75 - 1 = 0.75. Then 0.75 x 4 = 3

SOURCE: how to calculate 3^97 mod

The trick with this type of question is to remain within the capacity of the calculator you are using. 3^97 gives an answer that is well over the capacity of most calculators so we need to break the calculation down into smaller chunks that remain within the calculator's capacity.
One way to do this is to calculate (3^20)mod353 and then multiply the answer by itself four times, which takes us to (3^80)mod353. Then calculate (3^17)mod353 and multiply it with the previous answer, taking us to the required (3^97)mod353 = 40. You can check this with the standard Windows scientific calculator.
The reason this works is that we are removing as many multiples of 353 as possible at each stage of the calculation, rather than removing all the 353's right at the end. It also requires us to know that power numbers can be added together.

Wont turn on

Good morning, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time of day you are viewing this solution post. Thank you for choosing FixYa to assist you. You are having problems because you calculator won't turn on. I think you should try changing the batteries. Did you know that your calculator has two batteries powering it? Not only are the 4 AAA batteries powering it, but there is also a CR 3V Lithium Back Up battery powering it as well. First, try changing the 4 AAA batteries. If that still does not power your calculator properly, you will need to replace the lithium back up battery. You can find this at a department store or store that carries electronics. To do this, open your regular battery compartment. Above the AAA batteries is a compartment that says "BACK UP BATTERY CR1616 OR CR1620" with a picture of it. Use a small crosshead screwdriver to open the compartment. Take the old battery out and replace it with the new one. Rescrew the lithium battery compartment back on and close the AAA battery compartment. Turn on your calculator and see if that works. I hope this solution solves this.

48GX has been idle for 4 years.Wont turn on. Is there an internal battery that I can replace?

The 48GX runs on three AAA type alkaline batteries. However, if the device was unused that long, the button cells used for backing up the RAM cards may also be depleted, and the calculator will report "low battery" displaying the ((.)) symbol, even with fresh AAA cells installed.

The RAM card mounted batteries are type CR2016.

Main batteries:
  • Remove the calculator battery compartment door by pressing down and sliding it off away from the calculator.
  • Turn the calculator and shake the batteries out.
  • Replace with a fresh set of AAA alkaline batteries. Polarity is marked on the bottom of the battery compartment.
  • Replace the battery compartment door by sliding it back in place.
RAM card batteries:
  • Turn the calculator over and remove the plastic cover over the plug-in card ports (display-end of the calculator).
  • HP recommends to turn on the calculator while replacing the RAM card battery to avoid memory loss. I assume, your HP48GX has no marbles to recover by now anyway, so it does not matter, I guess.
  • Near the left side of the end of the card. you'll find the nail grip in the black plastic battery holder. Use a thumbnail to gently pull out the battery holder. There is one battery in each card (additional cards are options).
  • Remove the old battery from the holder and replace by a new CR2016 button cell. The "+" side of the battery should point into direction of the calculator's front.
  • Re-insert the holder with the new battery and check the RAM card is properly seated still.
  • Close the compartment by sliding back in the cover.

Casio JF-100TE Battery Replacement

Taking the back off The Casio JF-100 calculator is similar to the ...TE. Remove the two screws at the top back. Place a small screwdriver blade along the seam where the back plate fits into the front plate. There are 3 fasteners on each long side and 1 fastener on each of the front and back sides. Find the spot where it's the easiest to separate the back plate from the top plate (there are only two). Carefully twist the blade to cause an opening. Then proceed sequentially around the perimeter releasing each fastener. The front plate will easily separate from the back plate at this time. There are no parts that will fall-out--don't worry. Replace the battery. Press the front and back plates together to snap the fasteners.
