Cannot program cable to tv

Hi, So first I should say that I don't have the remote to the tv. So I first hooked the tv up to a basic cable antenna and it automatically tuned the channels. But in doing so it cut out certain channels. For example it goes from channel 2 to 4 and then to 5 and then 7. So now once I have a cable box hooked up to it, which needs it to be on channel 3, I can't get it to go on to channel 3!

Thanks for getting back so quickly! The only other question I found searching for this was asked in March '06 and still wasn't answered! But I tried using the cable remote, setting it to tv, and the tv doesn't respond. Bought a phillips universal remote and that didn't work either. Tried to play around with the cable remote to change the channel that it plays on the tv, but couldn't do that either. The tv actually has 2 av inputs but when the cable guy tried it, the usual av-in cables didn't fit. In the end in my desperation I tried to fiddle around with it and actually I was able to muscle it in there and it worked! So now the cable comes in through the "line" input. So that was one way around the problem! Thanks.

If your are using a cable box,all of your channels will be control only on the cable box.so, what you are going to do is use the remote control of the cable box.

Tv is stuck on anntena with only 1 channel I am trying to hook up cable tv. I do not have the remote anymore. When I program channels it only finds channel 1

In settings, find INPUT or SOURCE, select CABLE and go from there. To find channels on when using the ANTENNA mode, you have to have a DIGITAL antenna hooked up to the TV. It will then search for any stronger digital signal. Most of the time if you move the antenna after the signal search, you will have to do another search to receive the signal.

HOW DO I REPROGRAM PANASONIC TC-22LH30. BOUGHT IT USED AND WORKED GREAT ON CABLE. I WANT TO PROGRAM IT ON ANTENNA,

First... You need your working Remote
  • Input
    • TV
  • Now, Menu
  • Scroll to Program
  • Locate and choose from list "Antenna or Broadcast TV or Air or OTA". Different models vary
  • Then choose Scan for channels.
It's important that your antenna is hooked up correctly, and able to catch frequencies. Otherwise NO channels will be found.

How can i hook an antennae to the tv

Hello, Thanks for using Fixya.com

Hello , We are here to help you.

On the back of the TV you should have a Coaxe input. You take the antenna wire ether purchase a adaptor for it if it does not have Coaxe cable or just plug it in the back of the TV.

1. On that back of the TV you look for a plug in like this: rulds2008_14.jpg
2. You take the antenna end that should look like this: rulds2008_15.jpg

3. You plug it into the TV inlet pictured on step 1.

4. Take your remote and make sure you auto program your channel or auto search.

This is a basic instruction how to connect a antenna to your TV. You might need a converter if your antenna input is diffrent from what is pictured above.

Thanks for using Fixya.com, We do hope this information was Very Helpful

How do I get an antenna connected to z20lcd1a tv. I don't mean hook up I mean to work from the tv remote The tv is a 20 inch zenith lcd and the antenna is a phillips

If it is a regular coaxial antenna, you don't need to have a specific remote or code other than the controller that came with the TV. If you're talking about a cable box with an antenna, that will be different. You'll need to use a program code from a list on the remote's CBL device key to work the box.

A converter box for digital antenna transmission, on the other hand, needs its own unique remote to work, as far as I can remember.

Unable to automatically scan for channels. menu button on remote does not work om my 1992 jc penney tv. No buttons on outside of tv except for the basic channel up/down and volume control. Recently...

To make it easy for you - you should have original remote.
Then through the menu look for channel set up then make sure you select cable or antenna then you do autosearch(sometimes called autoprogram).Unless the tuner is defective, you should be able to program withe the original remote.

Akai VSG285 video - I can't tune any TV stations thru to the VCR?

This sounds like a hookup or programming problem.

The typical hookup is cable/satellite box output to VCR antenna/RF input, then VCR antenna/RF output to television input. Since you are able to watch pre-recorded tapes, the latter is already correct. There are other ways to connect, using the audio/video outputs of VCR to audio/video inputs of the TV. Older or low end TV sets may not have these connections.

If by chance you are using an outdoor antenna (not cable or satellite) then the antenna connects to VCR antenna/RF input and VCR output as above. You will also need to program the VCR into the stations- most late VCRs will scan for active channels, and program themselves to those channels.

I'm not sure of the capabilities of newer cable & sat boxes, but generally, you had to tune that box to the channel you wanted to record. The VCR is set to channel 3 or 4 depending on the output of the cable box.

Lastly, most VCRs of the last 10+ years require the remote to setup advanced functions, such as timed record, date & channel setup functions. The buttons on the VCR itself only do very basic functions, Stop/Play/Rewind/F-forward/Eject etc.

If you don't have the orig. remote, some universal remotes may be able to do advanced programming functions.

Programming panasonic vcr

First, check in the VCR setup and see if it set for cable or off-air/broadcast/antenna (not always named the same).  If it is set for off-air... then it won't tune cable channels beyond 13.  It must be set for cable mode in order to tune those upper channels (mid-band, superband etc.).

I assume you have the VCR hooked up correctly- cable into VCR antenna/RF input, VCR RF/to TV output to the RF/Ant input of the TV.

Cant access "Antenna" in tv menu to change to cable

Hi,
It sounds like you haven't selected cable in the "pull-down" menu. You see, you physically have to tell your tv if you're selecting "over-the-air" programs(free), or cable. Select the cable option &
then run "auto-select". Your tv will go through it's steps & find your cable stations. I hope this helps.

Can't get any tv reception

My friend, you need to hook up a signal source such as an antenna or cable . The channels wont come in and it will all depend on where you live and how close to a major city on what and how good you will get the stattions. then once an antennena is connected, do the auto programming again. Good Luck
