How do I connect my blue ray DVD player to the Denon AVR-1705-685 receiver?

This will depend on the Blue ray player and other equipment. For a direct connection to the receiver, if your player has either type of digital audio output (coaxial or optical), get the appropriate cables. Then connect the chosen cable between the Blue ray player and the receiver. Connect the Blue ray player to the TV with an HDMI cable. See page 10 of the manual, available at http://pdfstream.manualsonline.com/6/69f43064-f593-49b8-8d4a-23174b496e65.pdf , to see the connections for the audio sources. (I'll assume your Blue ray player doesn't have component video out or you would use the component audio to the receiver.)

If your player doesn't have a digital audio output, check your TV audio output. You can get the same result by sending the videos via HDMI to the TV and using the TV audio out to the receiver. Set the audio source to TV and leave it there for both TV and Blue ray and DVD videos. (Sometimes there could be a slight delay in the audio compared with the video signal when you do this. I've never noticed it with my Blue ray player signal going to the TV and the TV digital audio out to the Denon receiver.)

If you can't send the audio out to the receiver from either your Blue ray player or TV, then you will need some sort of HDMI audio extractor. You can find models with Analog Audio Out, Digital Audio Out or both. ( https://www.amazon.com/J-Tech-Digital-Extractor-Converter-JTDAT5CH/dp/B00BIQER0E lists units with both types of audio output. One models requires a 3.5 mm to RCA audio adapter.)

I hope this helps.

I have a Emerson Tv that doesn't have a HDMI input is there a converter I can buy to hook my bp145 LG Blue-ray up

There is an adapter that goes from HDMI to DVI, There is even a cord that is HDMI on one end and DVI on the other.
A lot of TVs have the VGA PC connection on the back, not sure if your model has it, but you need DVI specifically and its not as common on TVs.

I have a Sampo 42 inch plasma multimedia display monitor model PME-42S6 (s). I got a blu-ray player and connected it via the AV1 inout. The screen is now green and red. What can I do to fix this?

If you have a Blu-Ray player you should be connecting it via HDMI, which is the only way to receive a full HDMI picture on your television. But you may connect it via the component inputs if you do not have an HDMI cord. The component cable consists of five color coded cords of (1) red and (1) white cable for the audio, and (1) blue, (1) green, and (1) red cable for the picture. Connect the Blu-Ray using this cable and you will be fine.

PS3 problem with 42LG50 tv.

So I did finally find a solution....I returned my PS3 for a brand new one. Turns out it was my PS3. This is what I did...I bought a blue ray player, I connected the hdmi to my TV....no problem. So it wasnt my TV or HDMI cord. Returned the blue ray player for my money back, and returned my PS3 for a new one. Problem solved. Seems like alot of work, but it was the only way I could troubleshoot my issue. Just for kicks, try using another HDMI cord. I went through 3 different kind. Good luck.

Cant get hdmi for ps3 to work on my jvc hd 52g887

Had same problem with Panasonic PT60LC14 tv when connecting by HDMI cord to my PS3 and a blue ray disc was playing. First, read your tv manual to see what video inputs it supports . Then read the PS3 online manual (section on "video output settings").

For me I found out that my tv only supported 1080i (along with 480i/p, 780p) and the ps3 manual says blue ray outputs 1080p, so my blue ray discs will not play on my tv according to the PS3 manual. PS3 manual says to restart the ps3 (power off, then power on and HOLD for 5 seconds) - then the standard video output settings should be reset. Hopefully the ps3 menu will pop up at least. I haven't tried this yet but if it doesn't work, i'll may try to reset PS3 video out settings manually first using another tv that works with it ..
