Hi there! If the trigger or valve are sticking this can be an indication that the valve may be clogged with soap residue. Try soaking the trigger end in warm water for a few hours. When you use the hose again, be sure to prime the trigger by pumping it about 30 times then squeezing it for 30 seconds to get the solution to flow. Hope this helps!

Follow the plastic extension that runs from the trigger through the length of the handle. This requires more disassembly that at just the trigger. At the end of the plastic extension you will find a triangular-shaped "ramp" that pushes against a "button" plunger that opens the valve that releases solution. When you release the trigger, the triangular ramp retreats and the plunger is supposed to be pushed back out by an internal spring in the valve. This plunger sticks because of accumulated soap from evaporated solution. Try cleaning that valve and plunger by running clean, hot water through the system OR replace the valve. In the future ALWAYS thoroughly flush the system with hot, clean water after using the machine.

SOURCE: dirt devil easy steamer need directions to use

Thank you for responding to my question. I should have spent some time really looking at my little machine. It wasn't hard to figure out -once I found and read the back of the cleaning solution bottle and tried my luck following the water to cleaner ratio.. Opening, adding the cleaning solution and water and re-closing the reservoir was pretty easy. Everything worked out fine...and my carpet is...spotless. Thank you, Cmarie

SOURCE: Lost the manual. Need carpet/solution water

Below is a link to dirt devil. just put in your model# for the manual.
However most cleaners you buy give you the cleaner to water ratio on the bottle. Also you do not need to use Dirt Devil cleaner. All carpet cleaning solution are pretty much the same aside from the fragrance. The best ratio that I have found is approximately 5oz of cleaner for every gallon of water. Make sure you use hot water. Using cold water or waiting to long to use the mixture can reduce the efficiency of the cleaner.
Hope this helps.

Why will my Dirt devil easy steamer not releasing cleaning solustion

Hi! You may need to prime the trigger to get the solution flowing. To prime the trigger recline the handle and pump the trigger vigorously about 30 times. Power the cleaner on and hold the trigger in for 30 seconds. Be sure you are only using the Dirt Devil cleaning products intended for use with this machine. Using something other than the specified detergent can clog the lines that deliver the solution. If your cleaner still isn't dispensing you can take it in to a Dirt Devil authorized service center for repair. I have included a link where you may go to locate a service center near you. Hope this was helpful!

I have a dirt devil featherlite carpet shampooer. It has been a great one for about five years without any problems. I need to know if anyone knows where I can find the replacement filters?

Hi There,

We actually do carry the foam filter for your Dirt Devil Featherlite (also manufactured as the Easy Steamer) carpet cleaner.

According to the Dirt Devil parts diagram for the CE6000, your machine takes the following foam filter. Here's a direct link to the filter on our website:
Dirt Devil Featherlite, Easy Steamer Foam Filter Part# 1-700750-600

Here's a link for the parts diagram for your Dirt Devil Featherlite CE6000 carpet cleaner. This will give you all of the part numbers, and drawings for each part on your machine should need any further parts:
http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/vacuumcleanerbacgs/dirt-devil-easy-steamer-featherlite-ce6000-parts-diagram.pdf

I hope this helped. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to use the comment field here on the repair page to contact me, I'm always happy to answer any follow up questions.

If you found this repair helpful, please be so kind and rate the repair helpful and / or leave feedback for me. Thanks so much!

I have a dirt devil carpet steam cleaner. model CE6300HD. It is not suctioning up the excess water. This model does not have a belt.

I took the advice on the chat site and checked the tightness of the gaskets on the bottom. They were not secure. Once I fixed that all was well.

Too much water coming out.

When you press the trigger an angled piece on the end of the plastic rod attached to the trigger pushes valve button in that then releases fluid. On releasing the trigger, the valve button is supposed to be pushed back out by an internal spring. The button gets sticky with evaporated cleaning fluid and does not come back out, causing fluid to continuously run. Try taking the machine outside, fill the tank with very hot water, pull the trigger, and let the clean, hot water flow through the valve. Perhaps it will free up. If not, the valvle will have to be replace. Either way, once it is working, ALWAYS flush the entire system with hot, clean, clear water to remove any cleaning solution in the system or it will only clog again
