Am I suppose to put water into the Haier Standing Portable Air Conditioner?

Most air conditioners need water removed, not added. They act as dehumidifiers as they change the air temperature. What model air conditioner do you have? The Haier HPRD12XH5 has a blinking red LED with a triangle symbol to indicate the unit is flooded. Air conditioners can also fail if there is a coolant leak or the room is too cool. If the removed water freezes in the air conditioner, it can damage the fan and cause the motor to overheat.

The air cooling systems that need water added are "swamp coolers". That's the term I learned for the old-fashioned fan + ice/water cooling systems that work well in low-humidity environments. They'll make the area feel hotter in high humidity conditions.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the model of your unit for further information.

To much humidity coming from unit into house

An air conditioner removes heat (cools), and removes humidity. Your unit is either undersized or there's a leakage of outdoor air entering the conditioned space.

I have an older a/c in my window in my bedroom, the past two days its been extremely humid outside and i have noticed white air or steam coming out of the vent? It seems to be running fine, its been used...

My thought is that your situation is humidity related. If anything were wrong with the A/C process, the unit would stop cooling....Remember, that the process of air conditioning (cooling) removes some moisture from the air...So it is unlikely you have an issue......

Free standing Convair Supercool leaks like a sieve! We have no manual. Does the small black hose pipe drain the water from the white pipe at the bottom rear of the unit [ where most of the water is coming...

The water is being generated from humidity inside the air. The air conditioner also acts as a dehumidifier. The black line is the drain. The drain line needs to go to an outside line or to a container to collect the condensated water. With low humidity levels, the water will evaporate back into the air. With high humidity, the water is removed from the air at a higher volume than can evaporate back into the air.

Emerson quiet kool wall air conditioner. Should vent be open to remove humidity?

No - opening the vent will allow unconditioned outside air into the space and add to the humidity load.

Think of it like your car's A/C - when you put the controls to "Max A/C" the system recycles just the air inside the car and doesn't use any outside air. When the control is set to normal A/C, some outside (fresh) air is brought in.

The same thing is true for a window A/C unit. Keeping the vent closed will help the unit de-humidify and cool the air more quickly.

Unit releases xcessive amounts of water when

Part of an air conditioners job is to remove humidity from the air. The more humid it is, the moisture it will remove from the air. Some thru-the-wall/window air conditioners have fresh air vents. Ensure the fresh air vents are closed and make sure there is no air leakage around the unit & wall.
Keep your air filter and coils clean. If your unit has multiple blower speeds, use high speed during the more humid conditions.
I hope you find this information helpful moving forward. :-)

What does the "dry" mode function do on the Goldstar GWHD6507R window air conditioner unit? There are also "cool" and "fan" modes, but the "dry" mode is mysterious. Is it some kind of dehumidifier...

Your AC removes humidity and cools the air, in Dry Mode it cools the air but does not remove the humidity as much, which is OK in a desert (Las Vegas, Arizona, etc.) but not good for caribbean with the high humidity

When my Rudd air conditioner/heat pump is running, water pours out of the bottom of the unit. What could be causing this?

It's working properly. Air conditioners make it feel cooler by removing humidity from the air.

Humidity

Square footage of the studio should give the size of the air conditioner necessary to remove the moisture from the air. In order to remove the moisture the unit a/c has to operate with the coil temperature below the dew point of the air. If the air conditioner is to large for the job it will not run in the cooling mode long enough to remove moisture.
