Every 6 months, or every 7,500 miles if you use your automobile for normal transpiration. If you do a lot of hauling, racing, or anything or drive a lot of miles on it. Then its suggested that you do it ever 3 months or 3,000 miles. what ever comes first.

How do you replace the hood badge? 98 BMW Z3

Allow some warm water mixed with dish soap to penetrate around the edges of the old ornament. Gently slide a pry tool into the top or bottom center. The hold downs (plastic clips that SHOULD pop) are going to be on the left/right middle. While continuing to pour some warm water and dish soap around the pry point, work the pry tool around the circle. If you don't have a pry tool, use a non-ridged butterknife wrapped in electrical tape. It will take some force to remove, but it will come out.

Please note, you CANNOT re-use the clips. Your new hood ornament should have some with it.

Remove ALL old adhesive from the paint surface so that the new ornament will go on smoothly. Best of luck!

How do I get the "standing star" hood ornament off? Need to replace it.

After you buy the new ornament, to take the old one out, get a small phillips head screwdriver and a big, soft rag. Basically, you just use the rag to keep from scratching the paint on the hood as you work the screwdriver (may be easier with two) underneath the ornament, and slowly work it up enough that it just pops right out.
The ornament has two posts at the 3 and 9 o'clock position. Work evenly at these two points.

check it then rate it

Hood emblem installation

Just put the replacement hood ornament in the hole and use a pair of pliers to pull down and turn the lock 1/4 turn clockwise. It is spring loaded and if you look real close at the ornament you will see what piece to pull down and turn. Right now it is locked in its shipping spot.

How to replace hood star?

it is very easy, open hood, locate hood ornament, with a pair of pliers twist of to the left like if you were unscrewing a screw, and vise versa when installing new one.
ABOVE IS A FUKIN LYE. IF YOU DO THIS YOU R DAMNAG YOU CAR FOR GOOD AND NEVER FIX IT. THE ONLY WAY DOING THIS IS BUY MY CD ON ELECTRONIC BAY (EBAY) AND YO U SEING HOW MY PROFESSION DO IT YOU EBAY FOR BENZ ORNAMENT AND YO U BY MY CD OR ELSE YOU NEVER DO IT GOOD
I believe the original answer is correct. That being said, who the hell would take advice from the ignorant, obscene, can't spell or write English person who replied who is trying to sell something on eBay. Absurd!
Actually, the ignorant nut case with the obscene language who cannot spell or write English is partly correct; you must compress the outer shell with the pliers (preferably channel-locks) and turn it 1/4 turn counter-clockwise (to the left) so that the outer shell lines up with the release cuts in the hole in the grill. Once the shell is lined up properly, the ornament will slide straight out the top. Be careful that you guard against sending the old ornament mount out the top and over and down your nice Mercedes hood; that could cost you some cash to buff out the scratches! As for buying the nut case's CD, I'll leave that up to you.
