Voltage regulator, carbon buildup in the cylinders, the carburetor may need overhauling, engine governor may have a stretched spring, Spark plug may need replacing, Timing may be off, air filter may need changing, and lastly, your load may exceed the ability of the generator.Checking this list will uncover the loss of power
if there is no spark in the plug as you are saying for that matter check the current coil and the inverter section for the loss of current if you have already changed the sparkplug if not do change
check pulse generator circuit for any opens or shorts..even if you still show a weak purplish/red spark its bad..it must be a big bluish/white spark..check plug #1 for spark and then check #3 foe spark if there both week then its your pulse generators that are bad ..but if one of them has a blushish spark then it that systems coil..eg #1and#4 or the #2and #3 coils..
First make sure that you have a spark; remove the spark plug and position it so that the threads are touching the engine frame. Pull the cord and check the plug for spark. If you have spark, put the plug back in.
Get some starting fluid and spray it into the air intake of the carbuerator. Try to start the engine. If it starts and then stops, that indicates that you have a fuel delivery problem. Clean the fuel filter.
