This sounds like there's probably a fault with the compressor. If this is the case it's probably best to call in a technician unless you're really into DIY because you'd have to drain the refrigerant, then remove and replace the compressor before refilling with refrigerant.

Unit is low on refrigerant. Depending on the model there may be a charging port. A refrigerator repair person will have the refrigerant needed and the hose/gauge set to properly refill the system.

When you say that the "gas has been refilled " has me concerned . When ever a refrigeration system is low on freon, there is a leak in the system. What kind of refrigerator is it and model?

You might want to try cleaning the coils on the back of the fridge. You can either use a brush or a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment. A second possibility is that the defrost cycle is staying on. Try replacing the timer in the freezer section. If that doesn't help then the condenser is probably bad. In which case it's time for a new fridge.

Hi Tania, there should not be any reason for repeated refilling of refrigerant unless there is a leak in the system. The cylinder you refer to is the compressor and drives the refrigerant through the system. It is quite common for fridges to develop small leaks which should be repaired at the time a fridge is refilled. These leaks can sometimes be internal in the walls of the cabinet in which case it is not possible or practical to repair them.
