All Plasma and LCD TV have boards that control vertical and horizontal output to their respective areas. They are connected to the screen by ribbon cables. If one of these boards fails all together, has a failed chip, a bad connection, or a bad ground somewhere it will result in a black line in the area of that board. A bad ribbon cable connection on the bottom will result in a vertical black bar though the screen. Many times resetting the connection will fix it, if the ribbon cable has been nicked there could be a severed connection. They an sometimes be fixed, but it is a pain. An yes I have done it, but the bar is gone. The same will happen if the chip that outputs to that area opens. The connectors are the first place to look paying close attention to the cable, they are extremely delicate so great care must be taken .

good day sir/maam, the black vertical stripe on screen could either be onscreen data input/output,so check your manual, worst it could be failure of the vertical amplifier stage. It could also be interference. at this point its kinda hard to isolate the problem, only diagnostics tools found on service centers could find the fault. better check your local service shop if they could take a look at it.

try doing white wash feture in options see if u can get it out this way 1st before having to take aprt cheak cables are using old style sumtimes they do get glitch do factory reset thx for using fix ya . nick

Need more information:
Can you isolate which color is causing the banding?
Is there something ON the lense itself?
Is the projection mirror broken or bent?

The screen is purple with wiggly vertical lines. I'm going on a trip tomorrow. Help!
