I think blinking indicator is not the reason but if the indicator are not blinking that would be problem.. you are getting a internet provider, right! contact your internet provider for this problem because maybe its not your router in the problem or maybe them...

I forgot my parent controls pin

As far as I am aware, the only way to reset the pin, is to reset the router to factory defaults. You will then have to reconfigure your wireless settings. To reset to factory defaults:
Plug in the router.
1. Locate the small reset button. It is next to the power jack.
2. Use something to push the button, a paper clip works well.
3.Hold the reset switch down for 10 seconds.
4. Wait for the WLAN light to stop blinking. The router is now reset.
To reconfigure the settings on the router, enter 192.168.0.1 into your browser address bar.

Let's try to first fully reset your router to factory settings to see if we can get rid of any bad settings that may be causing issues. I borrowed all of the following from the technicallyeasy.net walkthroughs already written about:

  3. (Added by me) Plug your laptop directly into one of the ethernet ports on the back of the router with a standard CAT5e or CAT6 patch cable
  4. Open up your Web browser and enter 192.168.0.1 in the address bar.
  5. For the login, enter admin as the ID and leave the password blank.
The router has now been reset. Follow the steps in Securing D-Link DI-524 Wireless Router to secure your router.

DI-524 status problem

Did this happen after a firmware upgrade? If so, this link may help:

http://borgetech.blogspot.com/2007/09/d-link-di-524-revision-b4-status-light.html

Apparently there's a utility which will force firmware to load on the router. The steps are a bit technical, though.

If that doesn't work, the router is probably toast. Time for a new one.

Cannot reset or access configuration page.

The PC will detect a closed loop within the Network cable so forget that. Sorry but the router is bad if you cannot access it and the reset button does not help.

D-link di-524

With the unit on, place a paper clip into the hole on the back on the unit labeled Reset. Then, Hold paper clip down for 10 seconds and release. The unit will reboot on its own after the time is up. Once the WLAN light on the front stops blinking, the unit is reset.

You will loose all of your other settings, but at least you will be back in business.
