Looking for user manual for Sailrite LS-1 and a source for a basic case for the same.

Go to the Sailrite site, open the "sewing machine" menu and choose "accesories". The is a case on the list which might be suitable.

Although I couldn't see any instructions option, the manufacturer should be able to supply one if you ask them, since they pubished it in the first place.

The top thread is coming out of the needle, how do I fix this problem?

check and see if the take up lever is in the down position when you cut the threads, if so it will pull the thread out of the needle on the first stitch always keep it in the up position when threading or removing the fabric

Basic instruction to use the Sailrite Ultrafeed LSZ-1

I CAN'T HELP YOU WITH THE MANUAL, BUT I CAN TELL YOU THAT MOST MACHINES THREAD ABOUT THE SAME. IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS MAYBE A COMMERCIAL MACHINE, AND I WANTED TO WRITE JUST TO TELL YOU TO BE VERY CAREFUL. WITH A COMMERCIAL MACHINE YOU CAN SEW OVER YOUR FINGERS WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING. FOR EXAMPLE, SAY A REGULAR HOME SEWING MACHINE HAS 1,500 rpms, THE EQUALIVENT IN A COMMERCIAL MACHINE IS 15,000 RPMS. THERE IS POWER AND SPEED. I AM NOT FAMILIAR WITH THIS PARTICULAR MACHINE, BUT WANTED TO TELL YOU TO JUST PUT THE BANDAIDS ON YOUR FINGERS FIRST, BECAUSE IF IT IS A COMMERCIAL MACHINE, IT WILL REQUIRE YOU TO DO A LITTLE BIT OF PRACTICE FIRST BEFORE YOU "PUT THE PEDDLE TO THE METEL".

Sewing manual for a Reliable or Sailrite

The problem is that you purchased a clone of the Sailrite Ultrafeed. Most people do not know how much work Sailrite puts into each Ultrafeed Sewing Machine before it is shipped to customers. They hold 17 patents on the Zigzag Ultrafeed and know this machine inside and out. So when each machine goes through the assembly line in Indiana they are then tested by Sailrite in 2 layers of canvas then 8 layers of canvas then 4 layers of vinyl fabric if it does not sew it flawlessly they fix it, Ultrafeeds work right out of the box! So, it is highly unlikely that you will be able to get the clone machine to work. It must be totally rebuilt (a 4 hours process for an experienced technician). Sailrite will not work on any clone machines. So get your money back and buy a Sailrite Ultrafeed! If you are desperate and can not return the machine you can buy a DVD that Sailrite made for the Ultrafeed (each Ultrafeed purchased gets it free) it can be purchase here: http://www.sailrite.com/Ultrafeed-Advanced-Maintenance-DVD . It will help with timing issues, but will not show you how and what to do to rebuild the machine.
