I've had my Barista Express for three years, and changed the water filter three times. Two days ago, it seems it pumps water in when I turn it on, but it does not release water through the group. I took the filter out and the inside of the group (the mesh part) apart. It sounds really clogged up, and lost all presure. What else can I try?
I don't have the same brand, but I had a similar problem. These machines depend on generating high pressure (bar) and clogging is a problem. One source of clog is calcium and minerals in the water. Even though you have and change the water filter, there will still be minerals in the water and it can result in clogging.
You should use a decalcifier periodically but for the problem you are having now, you most likely need to take the head apart and clean the mesh and parts. Make sure light comes through all the holes. Don't enlarge the holes. Just clear them. That is what did it for my unit. Hope that helps.

Only way to know for sure is by taking it completely apart and expose all the internal parts
Popping is not a good sign If it is electrical arcing you are playing with fire
or electrocution
If you are mechanically inclined they are not that hard to take apart as long as they have no security screws on it and you have to remember you might be voiding your warranty
But it is fun taking things apart No?

Our lucky fix for this identical Christmas day problem was to put the reservoir in place about half full of water, then to reach down in it and pull the plunger up to open it. We had the machine running at the time, but that may not be necessary. regards, Gene
