Royal carpet extractor not picking up water well

It used to pick up the water great until i had to change the front piece because it cracked. now it only picks up water from the center and leaves the carpet really wet. I've had it to the dealer and he can't see to figure it out.

Try to follow the suction from the machine through the dirty water tank to the front floor suction piece. Make sure the dirty water tank is seated properly. Make sure there are no suction leaks any where.

SOURCE: I have a Royal 7910

One person wrote this in a review:
Most home carpet extractors are very difficult to take apart for cleaning and maintenance. The Royal 7910 is the exception. No tools are needed to take the front housing off to clean out all the pet hair.
I'm thinking that there has to be some trick you're overlooking to get at the hair. I couldn't find any blogs about getting this machine apart, so I'm thinkig you might run it by a vacuum repair shop and just see if they can show you, since that's their specialty.
It might just be one little thing or trick.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

When the shampooer is moved forward to initially to spray the shampoo the plastic guard on the front drags the floor and keeps it from moving forward and shampooing. .

The one's I've used the sprayer is on the back of the suction (suction hood which is kind of clear plastic), you watch that clear part to see if it is picking up dirty water. Recall it's easier to pull it and if caught just push down on handles and that raises front of machine to clear carpet snag. I would walk backward as it sprayed and then picked up the water with dirt. If different machine you could spray moving backward, go back to same starting point go again and don't spray but just hold it near carpet so it picks up the water.

It does not pick up the water after cleaning solution is applied

The most common reason for lack of pick up on the F5000 series is that the lid is not fully seated on the dirty water tank. Be sure to hook the two tabs on the front of the lid, and then snap the rear latch into place. Another reason is that the duct on the front of the dirty water tank is missing. The duct may have been removed to install the hose, and was not put back in place. It is a square plastic piece, about the size of a slice of sandwich bread, which slides into the front of the tank. A far less common reason for no pick-up is that the seal that the tank sits on has fallen off the motor cover suction tube. You will see a round tube on the bottom of the dirty water tank. This sits on top of a large rubber seal on the motor cover when the tank is in place. Be sure the seal has not fallen down into the hood.

I have a Hoover SpinVac SpinScrub machine and have used it seven times. The last time I used the machine to clean my carpets, it would not **** up the dirty water. I clean it out each time I use it, but...

The most common reason for lack of pick-up is that the lid is not fully seated on the dirty water tank. Be sure to hook it in front before latching it in the rear. Another common issue is that the duct is missing from the front of the lower tank. The duct is removed to install the attachment hose, and must be put back in place before trying to clean carpeting. It is a square plastic piece - about the size of a slice of bread - which slides in and out of the dirty water tank.

Changed hose on carpet cleaner and it wont pick up the water

If you are unable to pick up water from the carpet after using the hose attachment, is is usually due to one of two reasons.
1 - The duct on the front of the dirty water tank has not been put back in place after using the hose. It is a square plastic piece about the size of a slice of sandwich bread.
2 - The lid is not properly seated on the tank. Be sure to hook the two tabs on the front edge in place before hooking the latch at the rear. This also applies when using the hose.

make sure the belt on the carpet shampoo aggitator is good, (could be stretched or broken) recommend replacing that belt. also make sure your fan in the front of the machine doesnt have any chips or cracks around the center. (this will cause lower suction) a new belt should cure the problem for you.

No suction when carpet cleaning. Also won't stand upright

Its possible that it may be blocked in the foot of the vaccum. try going through your instruction manual to locate details on how to disassemble the suction brush and connecting ducts. If you dont have one then use this link to download it. http://ubermanuals.com/node/1870

Let me know how you got on
