If electric turn the oven to bake and look at the bottom element. If if does not turn red hot, it may be defective.
If gas, turn to bake and watch the igniter to see if it get red hot. If not, it may be defective.
If you turn the grill on, then only the top element will get hot in the oven.
if you select oven and it is fan assisted, then you will hear the fan working, and feel it blowing hot air.
Hope this helps.
If it is an electric fan assisted oven, and the fan is working o/k, \then you need to fit a new oven element., usually located at rear of oven compartment.

Thanks.
There is a blower on the top of the oven, which turns on when the oven is hot enough. If the warm/hot air is coming out from top vent corners - this is the blower working. Even if you turn the oven off at that moment, the blower will still work until the oven cools down. This is normal.
This is somethig you should have checked by technician.Till then turn the oven off then pull straight out on the knob removing it. use a plyers to check if it's actually turning off by turning it to the left. If it does turn to the left( off position) you may just need a new knob.
How old is the unit? Sometimes the igniter can glow but if it isn't drawing the right amount of power to open the gas valve then that is the safety that is built into the oven... So unless the power requirement is meant gas valve will not light. Even though the hot surface igniter is glowing red hot. chances are the igniter is bad. Let me know what turns up. ken
When you say the oven doesn't want to turn on are you referring to the control board wont turn on? Or are you saying that the oven wont heat when it gets too hot?
