The fan stopped working on one of the 2 cards . I want to use only on card bit the system wont boot without it . How do I get my system to stop looking for both cards and do a clean install of only one of them or should I fix the fan on the old card or buy a new replacement card or just a completely diferent video setup
Uninstall the driver and the card utilities before turning off. Turn off then remove the card you want out. The remaining card must be placed on the priority card socket, meaning the first card socket for video. Then boot up and reinstall the drivers and utilities.
Testimonial: "I tried that but It only boots with both cards exactly as setup in the first place. Its an MSI p55-GD65 MB and It could be a write protect feature in the software from MSI . . but it overheats and shuts off before windows finishes loading . Im working on this for 6 weeks now , trying to find a fan to see if i can fix the card but only found 1 in china 40mmX50mmX10 12.v 0.30 amp ....it has to mount up right delivery will be around april 18th :( this is crazy ! I have tried about everything I can think of ."
Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan
is not working your PSU is faulty
One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or
to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive
Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including
electrical extensions,IDE,SATA
the leads from your ((motherboard to
your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not
faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that
are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections
and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could
be faulty a computer
needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads
will end up with a computer error hope this helps

no hep in this forum either . OKAY fine , thanx . Ill try the cmos jumper to clear bios if that doesnt work ,this setup will be on ebay next , im over it
We're only trying to help. We don't get paid but we try to help. You don't need actually to reset your bios. Your cards are supposed to be plug and play. Something in your OS is affecting the proper boot up.
thanks for the reply. I did clear cmos and now it boots, no post though , no video keyboard but I hear the hdd spin up , Ive tried with monitor on both ports (2 dvi on each card ) and I have a raidmax 1000 PSU so it cant be the power supply ? cant even get into the bios to see if its a raid thing or not , Im not good with new technology , stopped working on pcs 8 yrs ago
AdIm starting to think it just needs a good old fashioned sledge hammer
What you can do, turn it off, remove the AGP video cards, then connect your monitor to the VGA connector of the mainboard, then power it up and set the bios. Thereafter, shut it down, then insert the good video card and let it boot up again. Remember to insert the video card into the first slot.
