pioneer gm 6500 is a 4 ch amp rated at 60w-4 way to small of an amp to run your sub. UNDER-POWERING your sub is more likely to damage spkr than over-powering. my advice, get mono-block to run sub
could be the sub wired incorrectly to the amp.i have had same problem and used same fix. everything has been workin fine ever since. check out this link an select the correct option for your set up an it will show you the sub to amp wiring

Is that on all the time or are you saying the light is on? If that light is always on that just means it's protecting your amp. If it's off and not playing bass then your in trouble
You can spend thousands on amps if you want to, but if you're just looking to get some good thumpin' out of your sub box, you can get a 550W Crunch amp for $98 from walmart (here) and you can get a 10-Gauge hookup kit for another $14 (here)
Your speaker box is rated at 400W drive, 800W peak. You dont want to drive it with an amp smaller than 400W, or you can damage your speakers by overdriving the amp.
You can sure spend more than $112, but that's a good basic setup for someone on a budget.
sounds as if u have a short going on somewheres maybe a loose gound wiredo u have the gain set to hi.check all connetions..check sub connections a sub short will put your amp in protect mode
You could have the subs wired in the wrong ohm. It might be turning off the amp and check to make sure that you rca cables from the head unit to the amp are connected right.
The cable should not cause the problem unless it is shorting out somewhere on the remote or positive cable. I would use a larger gauge wire first as this is the cheaper way to go, and if the same problem occurs you are having a short in the sub or box causing the protection mode. You will have to back trace to find possible cross connections.
It can be many things it possible the amp cannot handle the 4 ohm load and simply goes into power protection mode. Also make sure your using the correct gage wire to run power from your battery to the amp to thin and it wont have enough power to perform.
