When the timer gets down to 1 minute left and the machine is on the spin cycle, it takes another 10-20 minutes to finish the cycle. The total 40 min. cycle takes over an hour to complete. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I would call a repairman, but if this is not a fixable problem then I will just purchase a new machine. Mine is 6 years old.

The timer is only an estimate. pull the botttom cover of the front of the machine. There is a cleanout on the water pump, if its clogged it could be the cause of your timer taking so long

The only solution to this is to have the timer replaced by someone who knows what they are doing

Hotpoint WMF 740 timer stuck on 1 minute but washing takes hours to finish

Typical Landlord comment.

It is a totally electronic machine. They a power reset. Pull the mains plug when you go to bed, press and hold the power button as you plug it back it back in.

Here is the manual if you need it.

I have a front loader washer Kenmore Elite Model #796.40311900 that spins SLOW, not FAST as it should on spin. The digital readout works normally.

sounds like maybe drain filter is plugged and unit is not draining fast enough. if you have drain access in front pull it out and clean it.

Long wash times

I've had this problem, particularly with towels - it's quite annoying & not energy or water efficient at all. According to the manual, the unit has a sensor that senses if there is too much soap & it will continue to wash until the soap is removed. I found that this happened frequently on the "cotton" cycles & max spin. I've tried to make sure I use less soap, but I also use the perm-a-press cycle & the spin 1 down from max. Hope this helps
