Cannot find the password to my router

Not quite clear as to your problem. Are you trying to access the web-based configuration page for the router (for which you need an administrator password)? Or are you trying to make a wireless connection to the Internet via the router (for which you need the wireless security key)?

Those are two separate passwords, and you may be able to retrieve them both. The administrator password would be stored in the computer that was used to configure the router. The security key should be in the computer which configured the router, as well as any computer which made a wireless connection to the router.

If the passwords are stored, you should be able to retrieve them by installing some additional software.

For the computer that configured the router, download and install this program:
RouterPassView by NirSoft
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/router_password_recovery.html

For a laptop that connected to the router, download and install this program:
WirelessKeyView
by NirSoft
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/wireless_key.html

--------------------------
If you can't retrieve those passwords from your computer, you may need to reset the router to its factory default, and then reinstall/reconfigure the unit. There is a "reset" button on the back of the router unit. For details on resetting the router, see the owner's manual (pp. 3 and 13):

I HAVE A LINKSYS wireless-B broadband router 2.4 Ghz 802.11 Model BEFW11S4, and i am on guest account and i do not have a disk for instilation so is there a way to instal it without a disk?

You dont need an admin account or installation disk to install the Linksys router that you have.
Just get an Ethernet Cable plugged in to 1 of the 4 ports at the back of your router and plug it to your computer.
Then Access your router via your computer by opening Internet Explorer and type 192.168.1.1 to the address bar.

if it would ask you for Username and Password, default should be the one below.

Username:
Password: Admin

As you can see you just need leave the password blank and put admin to the passowrd.

if this password doesnt work just press the reset button at the back of the router for ten seconds and restart the router.

After that try accesing the router again. It should now let you access your routers setup page.

Installation of belkin router failed

You need to configure your router.
For that Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
http://192.168.15.1
or
http://192.168.2.1
If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.
Click on WAN settings and set those settings as your internet service provider settings.
Enable DHCP if you want to get ip from router.
Clickon wireless settings enable wireless then enable WEP Security then add WEP code .It is your password to connect wi fi.Then save settings and restart router.
Then you can connect your wi fi network with that code.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

I lost the install cd how can i install my wrt54gs wireless router?

You do not need the CD that came with the router to configure it.

To do it manually open your browser and type http://192.168.1.1 into the address field. That should take you to the routers log on window and by default the user is left blank (some routers the user is admin) and the password is admin.
If you changed the password to the router when you set it up before use that password. That will take you into the routers set up so you can configure/reconfigure what ever you need.

See if that helps.

Setup install complete still can't access router

you need to access the router via the web page ie using internet explorer or firefox and using the ip address of either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 and it will prompt you for a username and password

by default i think its username - admin with no password or visa versa no username and password is admin

Installation cd missing for wireless router

You do not need the disk

While it is powered up look for the reset button on the back and put a pencil or other non-metallic onto the button and hold it in for 10 seconds

It will reset and set the username to "admin" and the password to "password" or "admin"

If this does not work do not put in a username but enter "admin" for the password

You can then use the setup wizard to connect the internet broadband
