I had to disconnect my WRT54G to vacuum and use a can of compressed gas to clean the fan in the cabinet. when i hooked everything back up my network connections says my laptop is not connected and there are no wireless networks available. I've had this router since 2009 and have never had a problem with it. It's a version 6 and there's no new firmware or driver that I can see on the Linksys site. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

SOURCE: compatibility between linksys WRT54G Router and Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Driver

from what you say, it sounds as if you have your wired and wireless card connected at the same time. This will confuse the router as it is trying to give two different ip addresses to the one pc, which it cannot do. If you are using the wireless adapter, make sure you dissable the wired adapter as the router will continually look for the wired ip address while allocating your wireless adapter causing instability. Next ensure you have a good clear signal from router to notebook as this can obviously cause problems. Lastly ensure that the wireless cards TCP/IP properties are set to obtain ip address automatically, especially if your router is DHCP enabled to allocate ip addresses automatically.

Try to reset the router. This should resolve your problem. That model has a small hole were you must press with some a paper clip for exemple for a few seconds. This will reset the router to its original state.

SOURCE: How to configure Linksys WRT54G router with BSNL's C2110 modem?

The Linksys WRT54G broadband router is one of the most popular consumer routers there are. Linksys makes configuring your router easy. This article will walk you through the initial setup options for this particular model, but many of the basics we talk about here can be applied to any router setup. Setting up the router consists of four basic steps, such as Testing your Internet connection, connecting your hardware, setting up the connection and power cycling the entire network. Aside, from setup, we'll also describe some security concerns so you can make an educated decision on the administration of your home network.
Test Your Internet Connection First While this seems like something you would not need to be, make sure your Internet connection actually works. If you haven't already, plug the cable modem directly into the back of the computer and make sure you can get onto the internet. You may need to reboot the machine first.
Connect The Modem and Router to the PC Now that we have confirmed the Internet connection works, the next step is to connect the modem to the router and the router to the PC. The modem will attach to the router's Internet Port. You will then attach the router to the PC via any of the four Ethernet ports in the rear. Check the LED lights in the front of the router to confirm all of the connections are properly made. The Power, WLAN, Ethernet Port to PC and the Internet should all be lit.
Configure The Linksys WRT54G Settings With all connection made, you will now need to login to the router via your web browser. Type 192.168.1.1 and hit enter. You should see the login screen. Leave the username blank and type admin as the password and hit enter.
You will now need to configure the router's connection to the Internet. Under the Setup / Basic Setup section, make sure the router is setup to Automatic Configuration - DHCP. This allows the router to receive an IP address from your Internet Service Provider.
Next, go to the MAC Address Clone tab in the same area and enable Mac Address Cloning. This allows the router to clone your PCs MAC address, as the ISP may require this.
Power Cycle the Router and Modem Now that everything is configured, you'll want to power cycle everything. This is done to make sure everything has an IP address from the modem all the way through to the PC. To power cycle, shutdown everything. Unplug the modem and router power source. Shutdown the computer. Plug in the modem and wait for all green lights. Next, plug in the router and wait a few minutes until its lights are also green. Lastly, boot up the PC. You should have an Internet connection.
Change the Linksys WRT54G Router Password You noticed when setting up the router, that there was a default username of nothing and a password of "admin." Be sure to log back into the router once everything is running properly and type in a username and change the password. If you don't, a hacker that sees you have a WRT54G router could login to the router with the default credentials.

My heater was turn on and did not burn as it should and 2 of the panel turned black and now will not burn, how do i clean them to make them work proper again?

From what you have described, it sounds like your heater has not been cleaned and serviced in quite a while. Further, the model number you listed is for an LP Gas blue flame convection heater, not an infrared heater like you described ("2 of the panel turned black and will not burn".

Which ever it is the solution will be the same ... The unit and the gas to the unit needs to be turned OFF and the front of the heater cabinet needs be removed, so you will have access to cleaning the interior and the mechanical parts. You will find sheet metal screws on each side of the unit and the top, that will have to be remove to remove the front of the heater. Using a shop vac with a hose and brush attachment, start cleaning the interior of the cabinet. Then move on to the radiant plaques if so equipped. Vacuum them carefully and the remove them and set aside, where you won't accidentally step on them. Now, you have access to the burner and the pilot assembly. Vacuum the burner thoroughly and also vacuum the pilot assembly. Switch to a can of compressed air with a straw nozzle (like you clean your computer with) blow out the pilot and the ODS Sensor (Please see link to your Owner's Manual,on how to properly accomplish this). After everything is thoroughly cleaned, reassemble the heater in the reverse of how you disassembled and remove the plaques. Turn the Gas ON, purge the air from the gas line by holding down the gas control knob, while in the PILOT position. Once you smell gas, release the control knob and wait 5 minutes before attempting to light the pilot.

To help you further, I have included a link to the Owner's Manual for your model DESA Vent-less heater model you listed. You can download and print it for future reference. http://www.desatech.com/manuals/Vent-Free%20Heaters/107884-01.pdf

I hope this helped you to solve the problem and provide Annual Maintenance to the unit. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Following removal of filters from Rinnai gas heater (2 years old), I vacuumed both filter and back of gas heater but it still smells ilke gas when filters putr back on and heater tunred on.

Although you cleaned the filter and vacuumed the outside of the heater, there is probably a dust and dirt build up inside the heater, that also needs to be cleaned out. A dust build up can clog the burners so that they do not burn cleanly and thereby produce a gas odor, Be sure you turn the heater OFF and let it cool completely, before removing the heater's cabinet. A Shop Vac with a brush attachment on the hose and a can of compressed air with a straw nozzle (like you clean your computer with) works well in performing the cleaning process. Be sure to not only clean the burners, also clean the pilot and the pilot assembly.

If after completing the above, you still get a gas odor (if it doesn't smell like rotten eggs, it's not gas), it would be wise to perform a leak check on all the fittings. With that said, it's normal to get a whiff of gas when the burner lights and turns OFF, But, it should dissipate quickly.

Hope this helps you further troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Procom qd 250 keeps shutting off

If the pilot light keeps going out, the pilot and Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS) need cleaning.

What you'll need: A Phillips head screw driver. A can of compressed air with a straw nozzle )like you clean your computer with).

Be sure has is turned off to the heater. Remove the front cover of the heater cabinet by using the phillips scew driver to remove 4 to 6 screws around the outer edge of the cabinet. Once that's complete you will have access to all the components of the heater. If you see a lot of dust and lint inside the cabinet, use a vacuum cleaner that has a hose and brush attachment, to carefully vacuum all of the interior. Once that's completed look for the pilot assembly. Once you have located it, use the canned compressed air with the straw nozzle attached, to blow out the pilot tip. Just one quick shot of air should do it. Now, move your attention about 2/3rds of the way down the pilot from the flame tip and you will see a small hole in the side of the pilot. Using the canned compressed air and straw nozzle, put the tip of the straw just barely into the hole and hive it a quick, firm shot of air. You will probably see debris blowout the other side.

With the front of the cabinet still removed, turn the gas back on and try to light the heater, just as you always have. It may not light on the first try, because their may be some air in the gas line. Once the pilot lights, continue to hold the Control Knob in for 1 minute. Then ease off the Control Knob. If the pilot stays lit, wait one minute and turn the Control Knob to ON. The burner(s) should light and function as they should. Turn the Control Knob back to Pilot and look at the pilot flame. Is it curling up and away from the Thermocouple? If it's not, your problem is solved. It is curling up and away from the Thermocouple, Turn the Pilot OFF and clean the pilot again with the compressed canned air.

Reassemble the heater cabinet and pat yourself on the back. You just completed what's called "Annual Maintenance". Which should be done every year, before you fire up the heater for the Fall and Winter.

Hope that this helped in solving your problem. Please be kind enough to let me know.

After the pilot is on, when i turn the knob to lite the burner, it comes on for a second, then goes out

It sounds like the Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS) is clogged with dust, lint and/or pet hair. Or the Thermocouple has gone bad. But, I'm betting on the ODS being clogged.

What you'll need: 1. Phillips Head Screw Driver. 2. Canned Compressed Air with a straw nozzle (Like you clean your computer with). 3. A vacuum that has a hose and brush attachmnet.

First, turn of the gas to the heater. Dismantle/Remove the front of the heater cabinet. Should be 4 to six sheet metal screws holding it together on the 4 outer edges of the heater.

Once the front is removed you will have access to everything. You will probably find a lot of dust and lint in the heater cabinet. Using the vacuum with the hose and brush attachment clean all of the interior (including the burner) that you can safely reach with vacuum. When that's completed, look at the Pilot Assembly, Take the canned compressed air with the straw nozzle and blow out the tip of the pilot with a quick shot of air. Then look down the pilot and you should see a small hole in the side of the pilot. That's the ODS sensor. Place the tip of the straw nozzle just barely into the hole and give it a quick shot of air. That will blow any debris out the other side.

While the cabinet front is still off, turn the gas back on and try lighting the pilot. When it lights, hold the control knob down for one minute. Ease off the knob and if the pilot stay lit, let it burn for a minute before turning it to the ON position. The burner should light and say lit. If it does, don't leave it burning long, no more than a minute or two. Turn the whole thing off and reassemble the cabinet and you're ready to go.

If all that worked, pat yourself on the back, because you just completed what's called "Annual Maintenance". Which you should do every year in the Fall before you light the heater for the heating season.

If that didn't work, still pat yourself on the back, because now you know the Thermocouple needs to be replaced . You can purchase that directly from ProCom.

Hope this helped you get back up and burning. Please let me know.

Turns itself off

If the pilot is turning off too, it's an indication that the Oxygen Depletion Sensor (ODS) may be clogged with dust, lint or pet hair. This happens because your Vent-free gas heater uses interior air for combustion and whatever s floating in your household air during operation is going into the heater and clogging it up.

If you still have your Owners Manual, follow the instructions for removing the front half of the cabinet, Be sure the control knob on the top is in the Off position, before removing the front half of the cabinet.
Here's what you'll need to clean the interior and it's parts: A vacuum cleaner that has a hose and brush attachment, a can of compressed air with a straw nozzle (like you clean your computer with).

Once the front has been removed, vacuum all of the interior, as well as the burner, that you can gently reach with the brush attachment. Once vacuuming is complete, look at the pilot assembly (it will be next to the burner). With the can of compressed air with the straw nozzle attached, place the tip of the straw nozzle barely into the pilot opening (were the pilot flame comes out and give it a quick blast of air. Now, look down the pilot from where the flame come out and you should see a small hole in the side or top of the pilot. That's the ODS sensor. Place the straw nozzle tip just barely into that hole and give it a quick blast of air. That should blowout any debris that's clogging it.

Now, look for the Thermocouple. It will be either a stand a lone thermocouple (A thin brass rod in front of the pilot flame opening. Or wire soldered to the side of the pilot near the pilot flame tip). Trace that wire back to the control valve at the top of the heater cabinet. It's a attached to the control valve with a compression nut. Try loosening it with your fingers. If you can turn it with your fingers, it needs to be retightened with your fingers and with the appropriately sized open end wrench tighten only a quarter (1/4) turn more.

Reassemble the heater and try lighting it as you normally would. If the pilot lights and holds, wait one minute before turning it to the on position. If everything works as designed, what you just performed solved the problem. Remember to do the servicing and cleaning annually. Usually in the Fall before firing it up for the heating season.

Check the fans on the motherboard, are they all working?
Have you cleaned out the fans and heatsinks ?
Using compressed air, or even the blower end of a vacuum cleaner blow out the dust in the fans and the cooling fins of any large heat sinks, like the one over the processor.
It sounds like the machine is overheating, the dust is probably preventing air from circulating around the heat sink fins,

Low or poor signal is mainly caused by the following major factors:

Going Around Physical Obstructions
Wireless networks are also susceptible to obstructions that may lead to low signal. Often, the signal gets reflected, refracted or absorbed by the obstruction.

Common obstructions are:

  • Cabinets
  • Mirrors
  • Glasses
  • Metal objects
  • Thick walls and ceilings

If you have any of these objects between your wireless adapter and access point, consider relocating your access point somewhere high to get around the obstruction.
