My hitachi tv keep turning off after 5 minuted of

I just got done putting my panasonic 50 projection back together. There is a thermal cut off relay on top of your bulb box, can normally be seen after removing the back of the tv. With the tv unplugged make sure the area around this relay is clean of dust. If the simple fix dosn't work make sure your cooling fan is coming on with the tv.

TVs don't like being cut. It breaks them.
If you meant to say "when I turn on my TV, it turns on for a second then turns off", call Hitachi.

I have a Hitachi TV and it has recently started switching itself off for about 5 minutes before it comes back on again. It is only a year old. Could it be overheating?

Yes the overload sensor is cutting in You have some componenent/s getting hot. You need to do a warranty repair callout before more components burn out completely.
