I have a Nikon D80 that I inherited about a year ago. Not exactly sure what I am doing but all has been fine until today. when I press the menu button to view pics, nothing happens. Am wondering if I have accidently pressed something I shouldn't have! Please help

The menu button should bring up a menu. What happens when you press the playback button (the one with the right-pointing triangle)?

To view the pics on a D80, you do not click on the Menu button. Instead, you should click on the green button with a triangle shape pointing to the right. That is how you can review your pics.

To move between pics after clicking the button, press the left/right button or move your main dial clockwise/counter-clockwise

To close your preview session, just click on the same button with the triangle.

By default the D80 hides several of the more technical menus so that ... you activate either the 'Full' or 'My menu' option from thesetup menu.

I have a Nikon D80 camera that is about 1 year old. I has worked fine until about 6 months ago. Sometimes when I turn it on and press the button to take the picture nothing happens. I have to wait awhile...

Are you getting a Err message? If so The ERR message is not a good thing. Read page 132 of the D80 Manual. Also, try a factory reset found on page 129 of the manual. On the left side of the camera is the terminal cover, inside below the USB connector is the reset switch. If that does not work call Nikon digital 1-800-645-6689.

Left hand buttons don't work. They act like a half-pressed shutter button. IE: they focus and usually pop the flash. The camera takes pics fine, the two button reset and the tiny pinhole reset on the side...

You did what I would suggest to do the resets. I realize this is an old question, 1 year ago, but, if you have not found a solution my suggestion is to contact Nikon. The D80 is a fine camera.
