My 3 yr. old Kenmore elite 790 free standing oven w/glass cooktop has a problem. The ront burner on the right, only the outer two elements work and the center no longer works (triple element in one burner). The left hand side consists of one? large element. The front no longer works, but the bridge and the rear still work. Sears claims that they are not defective - just broken. Since they are internal parts I'm not quite sure how they could no longer work unless they are defective. Can someone tell me the life expectancy of an electric stove element? If I need to replace these every three years (estimate of $520.), it could get kind of pricey. If they are supposed to last 15-20 years, what happened to these. If there is another problem in the stove that is making the burners go, I would also like to address this problem now, rather than later. I need to decide if I should repair now and hope for the best, or make a flower pot out of the stove now.
