I have a Samsung DLP HL72a650, I bought it used, and it didn't function I put a bulb and a power supply in it. The TV worked for about a year, I fell asleep with the tv on ( ran for 12 hours) turned it off. Now today I turned it on, the picture comes up fine, then all the sudden maybe 30-60 seconds the tv begins to cycle on and off on and off. It will do this until you unplug it. The only light that is flashing is the Lamp light. I have found people saying to reset the lamp hour meter however the tv will not stay on long enough to get there. I pulled all the components out of the tv. and visually inspected them. I do not see any obvious signs of a blown capacitor or anything. there was a dark spot on the ballast so I changed it out with another ballast. Same result. Is maybe the power supply gone bad again?

Hello.. meseta809
first off all it's not necessary to have the TV on to reset it. the problem is the dmd need to send the info that you have a working lamp.
try this to see if it work's
Panasonic TY-LA1000 TV Lamp Reset Procedure/instructions:
Ok,
so apparently there are a couple of different ways forum members have
found out how to reset their Panasonic Lamp timer (this should apply to
all of them, not just the TY-LA1000 specific lamp)
“Hold the VOL down button on the TV and the SPLIT button on the REMOTE for five seconds”
Again,
you will need to press the Volume button on the TV while pressing hte
SPLIT button on the Remote Control for five seconds, it will NOT work
if you try to do it both from your remote!

you cant - unless you have another tv to test it in. May be a ballast or the cooling fan for the lamp is not working.

hey there it sounds like the problem is coming from your ballast board, the ballast board is the power source to the lamp. with time this part starts to wear out and get weak your old lamp is already burning out there for it does not need that much voltage to turn on but the new lamp has not been worn out or used there for it needs the ballast to be working at 100%
hope this solution helps
