One hint you may want to consider and it usually is not included in the instructions for replacing wheel;Double check the ribbon cable from the wheel, it only has contacts on one side and it is very easy to get it in backwards.Let me know what you find, contacts usually face the rear of the engine.SD TECH

Replaced lamp, however 50% of screen continues to

This problems it is not fixable or worth fixing because of the CRT picture tube of screen itself.Slowly dying, now the tv it is not worth a whole tv anymore if tv require a new CRT picture tube.CRT picture tube,if u can get a hold of it,most likely only can buy it from the tvs corporations themselves only and they charges u like a new tv,because the CRT picture screen it self 90% important to the tv functions itself.

My samsung dlp tv screen goes to just the left

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is it under warranty?)

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found at tv-part.com but supplies are limited. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be.

I have a Tip/How TO tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. It's called: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Hope this helps and if it does please rate it accordingly. Good luck.

Why does my tv shut off on its own

Hello,

It's the problem of overheating in the power supply board of the TV.on the power supply board of the Television there are few capacitors and Integrated circuits.any of this Integrated circuits is got short or may be weak.so due to this when you start the TV the current passes from electric outlet to the power supply board of TV.but when the current passes from that weak/faulty part at that time current gets stopped or slow and the board overheats and TV shuts off. this is a common problem faced by many other users too.the possible option to solve this issue is to check the power supply board by a meter and continuity tester and replace the faulty component on the board which is short due to which power supply board is getting overheated.its bit technical job but yes its not at all a costly repair to do or get it done by the technician. for required parts it can be easily available from local electronic hardware shop.
Hope this help in solving the problem, Take care...

Color wheel for Samsung HLR5688WX DLP TV

Samsung's digital light projection (DLP) televisions use a spinning color wheel to create the colors that are seen on the screen. If the color wheel becomes misaligned during use, it will become damaged and have to be replaced. Replacing the color wheel on a Samsung DLP television can be done at home, once a compatible-sized color wheel has been bought from a TV supply store.Replacing the color wheel yourself will void any Samsung warranty that might be in place, but is the only solution for getting the TV working again in as short a time as possible.
Put on the anti-static grounding strap to keep static electricity from damaging the internal components of the Samsung DLP TV. Turn the Samsung around so that the back is facing you. Make sure the Samsung is unplugged from the AC socket.
2
Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove all of the screws from the back panel. Put the screws aside. Pull off the back panel.
3
Loosen the two screws from each side of the projection bulb's case. Pull the projection bulb out. Put the projection bulb aside. Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws from the left side panel. Pull the side panel and the circuit board attached to it out carefully and put it down so that the cables attached to it have not been pulled out.
4
Take a picture of the power cable's position with the digital camera so that you can put it back correctly later. Pull the power cable out from inside of the Samsung's case so that the center panel is free to be pulled out. Remove the two large headed screws from the center panel with the Phillips screwdriver. Remove the top two screws holding the panel to the plastic case using the Phillips screwdriver.
5
Slowly slide the center unit out a few inches. Take a picture of the projector lens' positioning with the digital camera so that you can put it back correctly later. Unplug the two cables from the left side of the center panel. Unscrew the sensor switch using the Phillips screwdriver. Slide the center panel completely out of the Samsung and put it down on the clean cloth. Blow off the color wheel assembly with the compressed air.
6
Use the tweezers to remove the green plug from the top of the color wheel cover. Use the tweezers to remove the two cables at the side that are coming from the color wheel. Use the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver to remove the screws from the top, front and back of the color wheel cover. Slide the color wheel cover straight up to expose the color wheel.
7
Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the three screws holding the color wheel to the color wheel assembly. Lift the color wheel up and out of the color wheel assembly and discard it.
8
Position the replacement color wheel in the color wheel assembly. Reassemble the color wheel and reassemble the color wheel assembly. Put the color wheel assembly back into position in the rear of the Samsung DLP TV. Reassemble the Samsung DLP TV. Plug the Samsung DLP TV back in for power. Turn the Samsung on and enjoy seeing the colors displayed properly again now that you have replaced the color wheel.

That humming sound is a sign that your color wheel is becoming or already is defective. If you don't replace it you might even lose picture in the future since it's part of the light engine system

SAMSUNG DLP SCREEN

Sounds like one of the Bulbs has burnt out. This is a very easy problem to fix. You just have to remove the back panel of the TV and replace the bulb on the side that has gone black.

The bulbs can be purchased directly from the dealer. (And are rather pricey)

BEFORE purchasing the bulb...I would first make sure that the current bulb has not become loose. Try reseeding the bulb and see if it will function correctly.
